ive had the head of everything is fine changed the head gasket, bolts and a full service and it still does the same the timing is set up right as well

any help would be much appreciated

thanks john

Does it maintain speed or start decelerating?

just what is top speed in first or second?

are you not just bouncing the valves and frothing the lifters?

it might just be that bouncing the valves and frothing the lifters

it also does it in neutral

yes but what is it actually revving to? 2-3k, 4-6K, 6-bang?

what speed is it doing in second, when it 'bogs'?

dont no wot its revin to as ive got no rev counter 55mph when it bogs

Get a rev counter you may be revving a lot higher than you think! -- Then KABOOOM

lol 55 is probably topping out 2nd gear

My J reg 12NV engine used to rev a lot better than my H reg 12ST.

55 in 2nd gear I take it? Thats approx top speed in 2nd and around 6k + rpm IIRC.

TBH matey, Id get a rev counter and chnage gear at 5600 - 5800 rpm when the power ends after that theres not much oomph left. Better for the engine and better for acceleration too.

learn to change gear.
