Right the calibra dropped its entire sump on the contents of the driveway (thanks Mr Mohammed previous owner for replacing the sump plug with some ridiculous bolt!).
This was around 8 months ago and so far I cba to clean it up but is now looking a bit of a mess.
Whats the best way of cleaning it up?
its only the stain I'm left with and the actual oil is long gone.
I was told to use sand or a mixture of white spirit and parafin lol

Sand is of no use now, only really at the time to soak up the oil!

Is it a concrete or tamaced driveway. If it's tarmac, then the oil will have done damage to it, and will eventually start to ravel as the bitumen has been broken down!

Any oil spillages I've had "Gunk" seems to do a good job of getting rid of the stain though!!

I've used washing up liquid and boiling hot water with much success in the past.

As said, depends whatyour drive is constructed from? A decent cleaner and a pressure washer should be of some use. If its been down for 8 months the stain will be well in there though.

Thanks mate. unforunately I don't have an outside tap although I have a ghey tap attachment that seems to work for the hosepipe. lol
Could always use next doors I think.

The oil's been down for 8 months, it'll be dry and just a stain.

Trichloroethylene would bring it straight off, but on a more serious note washing up liquid, hot water and a yard brush have always worked for me.

go to a diy store & get some driveway cleaner. its designed to get oil off block paving, so it should work fine on concrete.

brake and clutch cleaner works well mate :thumb: can get a 5 liter can of it from a.e. cooks. its about 8 quid.. all that gearbox oil that went all over when we stripped the corsa here thats all gone and thats all we used

brick acid will fetch it up,pour over the concrete, and use a stiff brush, give it a good scrub, then jet wash off,if your concrete is turning yellowor green, it will wighten the concrete aswell:D

Try some TFR used neat and agitate with a brush then pressure wash off if possible.
Or get hold of some 'brick cleaner' I had an awesome mess once, engine oil, gear oil etc and used that which I found in my rents garage and it has actually burned the white painted lines off the parking bay where I used it lol :D
It was the same white road paint that they have to blow torch off when working on roads.
So yeah, that stuff was fairly effective! lol

it was probably at the front then mate, it has moved between the boot been right on the gate and the front touching the garage. It was probably at the gate for you to see the oil patch. But it was deffo there lol

I had planned to do it after the nova but might do it shortly depending on a few things....
If not it will be fixed next year but with a different XE lump most likely

novarobbo
02-10-08, 02:38 PM
would it be worth fixing it? as ive found a mint yellow se2 with a leather re-trim, xe, reiger front splitter, 17's lowered, and the rest of the goodies for 500 at york and also taxed! lol
