overheating?

earlier my digidash flashed up with the water temp maxing out in my xe nova.
checked the water etc, can anybody suggest anything?

If it wasn't actually overheating, then I would suggest that the temp sensor wire is earthing to the engine or body somewhere.

Exactly what happened to me:( I thought oh sh1t! pulled over and opened the bonnet and thought "well there's nowt wrong with ya!"
I just ran a new wire from the back of the clocks to the sender on the front of the block and that sorted it;)

yeah just went out to the car to check it after the car has cooled down and its still saying its overheating, must be an electrical fault!
