Just a simple question really, are there a lot of people (if any) that put turbos on 1.2 1.3 or 1.4 novas?

Turbo on a 1.2 or 1.3 IMO, would be a pointless excercise. I'd rather a set of carbs:cool: !! I think there may be a turbo 1400 somewhere, i know people do the 1600. A lad round here had a GTE Turbo before it got pinched and torched!:roll: :( :mad:

My friends has 230bhp 221 lb/ft torque and does 13.6 1/4's.

Yeh, I know he's talking Nova, but surely en engine is an engine and the Nova 1300 engine could be taken to the same level as a Startlet?

Thats actually what made me ask this question. Boy at work has a starlet. It's got 151bhp at the moment. But for a 1.3 thats quite a lot! He's hoping to get to 200bhp in the coming months. So was wondering if the same sort of thing could be done with a Nova.

I'm not doubting that the Starlet is a good car. That engine was built to have turbo power. The money you would spend on building a 1300 engine to take turbo power, if it would handle it long enough, you could probably rebuild and tune up an XE for. Thats why IMO it would be pointless.

A turbo starlet 1300 compared to a 25year old 1.3 8v nova engine isn't really a comparison is it.... Lol

If your going to Turbo an 8v GM engine, personally, use an SEH (they'll take 230bhp all day long) or a 1600, they'll take 170+ bhp.

There is also reasoning why a lot of small engined jap cars have big power ;) Japan is muchos strict on pollution, of which big engines make more.
