Well, the 2008 show season is well and truely coming to an end. We can only pray for the odd day of good weather in the next month or two.

Whats your build / rebuild / modifying plans for this winter?

Mine is to eventually get the interior up to scratch, maybe get a fresh dash flocked by someone decent. Maybe look into some carbon fiber bits and bobs, but mostly save for 2009 so I can enjoy and use the car loads.

Nope, am a deilevery driver...lol

never understood the "taking it off the road for a winter freshen up" term

so mine will be driven, as always, and on trackdays...

would find it very strange if anything else was to happen, that didn't happen through-out the year anyway

Snap, mine will only off off road while the engines out.. Use it all year round..

Still got paint prep to do, paint it, fit the engine, the list goes on. Spent alot of time on the forums these past few months so plenty of motivation now!

The length of time it's taken for this damn retrim has built it into this myth of excellence, when really it's just your run of the mill alcantara retrim :(.

My main winter concern is to iron out everything so i'm 100% happy and confident to use the car to its full potential.

I plan to leave my Sport shell for another year and pack yet more crap in around it so I havent got a hope in hells chance of even getting close to it.
Just leave the SR in its lock up and forget about it.
Charge the new but very flat battey on the 888 as its only use this year was to go to Billing.

This should read:

I plan on selling the Astra Coupe 888, because its just loosing value doing feck all sitting in the driveway.

I'm going to cancel all the part orders i've in, stop being such a horder and sell some stuff onto people who will get good use from it.

I will be flat out in the garage getting the Sport ready for the 2009 show season, starting with finishing the engine off

Thats better :thumb:

Tuck her away in the garage for the winter, save up for some bodywork tidying and a rolling road setup.

Purchase as funds permit:
Quickrack
Diff
GTE Driveshafts
Front Heated Screen
Coilovers
Roll Cage

Remove and redo the loom properly
Look into 16v power (Small block of course :D )
Rebuild and service Weber 40 DCOE Carbs

i will still be using my nova day to day:( (novas+winter=disaster!lol ) but hopefully this winter i will be:

getting both rear arches sorted(just starting to bubble in places)
get both front and rear bumpers painted
buy some eccentric topmounts and put them on
get the diff fitted
get some tiebar brackets made up
wheel bearing replaced
and fit my quick rack that has been sat for ageees lol

I'd just like to get mine home:confused: still stuck in London.

Source a new or mint 2nd hand door, genuine door moulding and gutter trim, get the service book stamped for her 26,000 mile service and wrap it in a carcoon until next year after some serious cleaning. Hope to just have a little fun and source some bits if I descide to rebuild at the end of 2009, really fancy a making her into a MK2 Sport replica, with a red Sr interior (whats wrong with me?)

Jack
29-09-08, 11:12 PM
Blitz downpipe to mid section replacement pipe, with the flexi section. Then I'll just "have" to get an electronic boost controller to stop boost creep.

On the Nova, not a lot. There's loads to do but I just cba with it, so I'll keep using it all thru winter and probably start thinking about breaking it around March time.

I'd like to buy another and V6 it, but thats looking unlikely at the mo due to space. Even though I could re-use most of the current saloon parts lol

29-09-08, 11:14 PM
I think for the winter it may be engine out, freshen up the bay.
Need new battery so maybe a Varley RedTop battery re-located inside car somewhere.
If money will allow swap carbs and Weber Alpha set up for SBD Throttle bodies.

If anybody out there wants a set Weber DCOSP 48's on Weber Alpha ignition, inlet manifold etc, etc drop me a PM.

Still toying with the idea of chucking the LET in the daily driver. Got quick rack to fit to it too now.

The turbo is being left as is now I think as i've wasted far too much money on it already.

Big turbo, set of cams, remap.

30-09-08, 02:11 PM
Well I've now got my engine bay stitched and chassis plates fitted to a brilliant standard (cheers Tony :) , not that you will read this!) so next step is to get the engine bay painted [after a trial fit of the engine of course] then that is done. Think I'm going to get the whole shell stitched over the winter too.

After that I'm planning to fit my wide track kit and arches, along with a full respray inside and out whilst keeping the overall finish to an exceptionally high standard.

Need a few bits such as a roll cage, possibly rear turrets (again), and bucket seats plus there are a few suprises too.

Then try not to damage it whilst giving it some abuse round track and hopefully be able to tag along and get to the ring.

Oh and I need to start a project thread lol

Lee
30-09-08, 02:38 PM
Ive got to fund an LSD for the track car, that's a must. It also needs new bushes, and the driveshafts rebuilding. And some new tyres.

I also have to build the Loon-a-que :)

30-09-08, 05:55 PM
On my Audi I have these bits already, just need the time to do it !

Convert to LPG
Cambelt
Thermostat
Anti squeel plates for the calipers
Centre Box as its far too loud
AVCR and K26 Turbo to be fitted

Spending wise though I have a expected 500hp let engine to assemble over the winter and loads of other bits to buy for my Escort when funds allow

Mike

Hhhhmmm, where to start......

Change trade as im going back to work on Pug/Citroen rally cars, which means ill prolly sell the Novar on for a GrpN spec 106 GTi road/track car...

Build a garage to house project car.....

Landscape front & rear gardens...

Get the Astra completely minto ready to sell it...

Get the Corsa completely minto ready to sell that....

Buy me/missus something nice to drive (Evo/Impreza/VW R32/A4/A3/Cupra Type R etc etc)

Me - I'll be trying to get the vinyl finished for the SR, paint it up properly so all the panels are the same colour, seal the panels/underside and replace the drivers side bolster. Want to also refurb some 3 spoke SR alloys.

the red one - getting the hunger pangs to restart that as well - finish the rear bumper off and get the molds ready for casting the kit...

I just got off of the phone from insuring mine, so I'll be out in the salt & rain lapping it up.

Main goals are to tidy up any odd ends I've left. Sort some ICE to make driving it more of a pleasure. Possible roll cage to find for it aswell.

I'm just keen to see it as it will bring the whole standard of the car up. The interior, even if it isn't as special as everyone thinks/is expecting, will bring the inside of the car on par with the rest.
