hi guys

my girl friend goes away for a week soon leaving me her 1.2 A reg nova i should be getting 1.4 sr mk2 want to know if it is easy to swap the gear boxs over and what parts i would need to see if i could pull it off in a week or 2 days as i have other stuff i am going to be swapping etc ;)

the engine is the sr is fooked so that idea is out the window of a hole swap and then there is insurance and she is't the sort of person only been driving for 3 weeks that wont tell her insurance some thing (good thing)

any help would be good

Its fairly straight forward really, once you have the 5 speed box fitted, you will have to cut the little plastic bit off the gear stick so that you can select 5th gear.

Other than that :thumb:

thanks guys

would i just need the same 1.2 clutch etc as i was going to change the clutch why it was all out :) hoping i get good werthewr the week she is away,

i would have left it as it is but she is using it alot on the motorways and when she nicks my car it would save them staying in 4th as i also forget about 5th after driving the nova for a wile

if its a 1.4sr it will have f13/5 cr therefore it has a 0.89:1 5th gear and a 3.94:1 final drive. and the 1.2 will have a final drive of 3.74:1 and a 4th gear of 0.89:1. meaning that actually your 4 speed box is better for motorway miles

mines was only 4 gears but now 5 and the selecting gear can be a bit difficult untill you get used to it
