My newly built C20LET seems to be leaking slightly at the sump gasket. After a drive, it'll deposit two small drops of oil, so nothing major, and the level doesnt seem to have dropped at all.

I've ordered the 8v gasket and baffel plate complete from Autovaux, complete with the required bolts (shorter?) They did mention that I may have to bend something on the baffle plate for clearance, doe's anyone know where they mean? (pics?)

Also, has anyone had trouble with their crankshaft seal leaking on their XE/LET? I'm saying this because the leak is at that side of the engine, and some oil has got onto the flywheel, I'm hopeing that's not the problem though.

A guy i worked with had the f28 out of his astra gte 3 times because the rear main seal kept leaking! Isnt yours a new engine though?

On the 8v gasket theres a small tab that needs bending back, i saw a picture on here yesterday somewhere that showed which one. Although i found out about bending it back after putting my engine back together but never caused me a problem/heard a noise

It was a new engine, but then had to change the block due to the oil feed snapping off. I REALLY don't fancy pulling the gearbox out, hopefully it wont come to that.

I had no end of leaks on mine even after I rebuilt it with new GM gaskets and seals. Ended up getting another crank seals from vauxhall for stupid money which ended up sorting it finally.

This is what trackdaynova posted up yesterday

Also note the detail that may need bending back so it doesn't touch any of the reciprocating parts

Hope this helps :)

Going to try the sump gasket first. The majority of the oil was sitting round the front corner of the engine quick think, the rest was just little splash's. So it could be leaking there and getting onto the flywheel. If that fail's then it's gearbox out time!

All the gaskets/seals are GM, so fingers crossed its not the crank oil seal.

I had my gearbox and flywheel off as my fresh built engine was pissing oil out from behind the fly. Changed the seal and it was all fine.

As said oil on fly WILL be crankshaft seal, I tryed everything before admiting that was the cause of the problem. Right royal pain in the ass job to do as well.

EDIT: with the engine in the car, working at jack height

I found i didnt need to bend anything, held it in place and turned the engine over (by hand) and nothing touched.
