Pulled out of a junction last night in my 14sr, went through into 1st,2nd and soon as i got into 3rd i lost all power.

Got towed home, Checked compression, spark, petrol to carb, choke isnt stuck, fuel pump and return is right, timing on cambelt and pulley is right and hasnt slipped a tooth.

Two problems i can now only think of that come into mind, only two spark plugs are soaking wet with petrol.

Could this be distrubitor dead?

Help much appreciated as i use my sr for a daily runner to work,
Thanks Mushy

It could be the dizzy cap or rotor arm, or the leads. I'd renew them all for peice of mind. If you're getting a spark at all the coil should be OK.

I spoke to him yesterday and he said he's getting the compression check done and also has a dizzy from a gte that he's going to try.

I'm not not sure either but should a gte dizzy work ok on it?

Other than that not sure what else the fault could be, as suggested rotor arm is worth a try.

Dizzy from a gte wont work. It has no advance system

have to use a carb dizzy not an injection one.

he said in 1st post he checked compression.

1st thing would be to remove all plugs, pop them in each lead and earth them see if they all spark.

if they do then compression test would be next (providing your 100% sure the cambelt is perfect)
