as i always say with these kind of threads. if you need to ask you cant do it
any reason why you pm'd me asking the same question????
as burgo said, if your serious about this and you have to ask then quite simply you wont have the knowledge to perform such an operation...
Talk to Phil Sutton. He made progress into building a RWD, rear mounted V8 Nova.
I think Courtney do a rwd fitting kit, give them a call.
sure its not regal ben??
i think they have recently finished their 4wd conversion kits too
yes sorry mate think ive been mistaken, sure your right.
Lotus also make a kit for it too but you have to lose the roof

im sure im capable of pulling it off, ive been measuring up some rear diff axles today(mk 1/2 escort, sierras, vauxhall frontierra/omegas to see how they are factory fitted) i think its easier than it sounds...honestly? i asked to gather up different ideas, to see what parts/engines have been used, and wether or not they were succesfull?? be a gud way to start!
Quick question...why does nobody use the 2ltr 16v ecotec engines?? trickier to wire? or are they just PANTS!!
they arent used because cretins (sorry I mean people) think that because the engines are called ECOtec, that they are gutless and ghey.... Now most of the ecotecs will be 12-7 years old..... compare that to most XE's being atleast 12+yrs old and ragged to death so both engines are likely to have the same power outputs lol.
ok they are a touch tricker to wire up but thats only a case of getting the immob chips sorted

if you've been measuring up escort mk2's then you would have already worked out that the mk2 has the same track & wheelbase as a nova.... the problem is that the nova has no rear end weight....
check the projects, there is a mid engined & a cosworth 4wd on there...
Rear beam sorted then, how you gonna mount the engine, hows the geerbox gonna fit through the steering rack?

find a mk2 escort, cut the top off & weld a nova on top of it!!!

yeh, same with the omega but the sub framing luks slighty trickier! i suppose i wouldn't b able to get much grip to the floor, nothing a flush boot and few other mods couldn't fix mabye?? next thing i'am going to luk into is how the whole gear linkage and steering rack is fitted on factory rear wheel cars as rich said.. i imagine just modifying the mount brackets again out of an omega etc would work, then jus a case of fabricate a simple tunnel to suit the big 5 speed gear as they do with the mk 1/2 escorts?
IIRC The omega uses a steering box.

pfffft never finished it though, was a front mounted V8 with a volvo rear axle lol. Still Austins is the best example. He uses a C20xe turned 90 degrees in the engine bay with a escort rear axle set up. Oh an the whole front of the car is space framed.
Also built a 4x4 corsa van which we never finished, only did to make a point so the next time anyone asked we could say yes weve done one. It drove an did lost of donuts, then we got bored. As well as them we also rough ****ly welded in a 1.2 engine into the boot of a nova. That also did lots of wheel spins an donuts until the engine fell out.
One of our customers has a fully working 4x4 corsa on the road as well.

Oh yeah, walk in the park mate! 25 minutes with a grinder and you're on your way!

And you'll have to find out if it needs a cat or not for the MoT test...
