View Full Version : Nova help please!!!

Lauren
24-09-08, 10:32 PM
Ok, I feel a bit cheeky asking for this, but basically I have the parts for my Nova but I'm too much of a woman to know how to fit them.
So... is anyone able to give me a hand? I can offer a few quid for your troubles. Plus petrol money. And I make a wicked cup of tea.
Anyone??? Please??? :(

Dod

How much damage is done to the car? You got pics of it?

Jack
24-09-08, 10:34 PM
^ LMFAO

what parts? That might be a good start....

Lauren
24-09-08, 10:47 PM
I will post up pics in a sec but my comuter is being gay. It needs a window replacing, a new bumper, wing and headlight fitted and the bonnet straightened. Maybe some dents knocked out of the door as well.

NovaBoi92
24-09-08, 10:49 PM
dont think that you will be able to get it perfect if the bonnet is dented and the door is, do yuo want it to be perfect or dont you really mind if theres a few dents in

You would need to include at least 2 different types of biscuit, & not those Supermarket Own Brand things that look about right, but are 3/4 the size & taste of chalk

I hate gay comuters always falling asleep on your lap especially if there the same sex as you.

Will fit parts for sexual favours!

Fancy a punch in the face too?

aslong asyou dont want paint putting on the wing. I might be able to assist, although my time is velly limited at weekends etc. Is it driveable?

No I don't want it painted.
It is driveable yes, the engine is in perfect condition, but it has no tax, no mot and no insurance, and it's more than likely gonna be on the police register. So I wouldn't advise it lol

Stoo
25-09-08, 09:19 AM
What biscuits?

I wont settle for anything less than maryland cookies, at least three packs, and some bourbons too
And a few good cups of strong coffee!!

And of course the obigotary box of tabs!

Lauren
25-09-08, 09:22 AM
I've already said I have maryland cookies and mcvities digestives. I'm sure I can stretch to some bourbons too! And what is a box of tabs??

Stoo
25-09-08, 09:29 AM

Petrol Money?

Prey
25-09-08, 09:34 AM
All this talk of biscuits has got me interested - but 150 miles each way is prob a bit excessive - otherwise I would!

Stuart
25-09-08, 09:44 AM

Lauren
25-09-08, 10:53 AM
Well, Mr Lauren may not be there, depends if you come on a Saturday or Sunday. I'm all up for learning, as long as I don't break a nail lol

Just seen the pics, couldnt at work
Have you checked to see if the slam panel is bent? any damage to the rad etc?

shouldnt be a big job

never done a window though, but hey ho, every challenge welcomed.

bonnet looks ****ed mind!

Lauren
25-09-08, 12:07 PM
Er... slam panel? Rad is fine, there isn't any engine damage at all from what I can see.
Uh oh, do you reckon the bonnet will need to be replaced?

Stoo
25-09-08, 12:09 PM
id say so unfortunately

slam panel is the bits the lights bolt to

Lauren
25-09-08, 12:19 PM
Aaaahh, razorjack was asking me that question last night, I don't know, I'l have a look a bit later.
I haven't got a new bonnet... :(

Paul
25-09-08, 12:45 PM
Im not too far either if Stooo bails out let us know.

Ill take that snigger as devious coyness, meaning youd love us to play poker on your back whilst making you airtight

Lauren
25-09-08, 12:56 PM
Stoo! You are making me cringe!

brainsnova
25-09-08, 12:58 PM
i think your safer buying a 10mm + 13mm spanner or socket a starey screwdriver and smal flat screwdriver and do it yourself. Oh and a hammer if your not changing the bonnet. :D

Lauren
25-09-08, 12:58 PM
Urrgghh you lot are so crude! lol

Jack
25-09-08, 01:04 PM
Razorjack was asking you about the clips under the headlights :p

I'd hedge my bets on the slam panel being bent judging by the damage. Thats going to need some pulling out first at least. I think thats going to be a harder job than it looks tbh.

Stoo
25-09-08, 01:04 PM
thats what im thinking jack

Lauren
25-09-08, 01:32 PM
You not up for the challenge? :(

Stoo
25-09-08, 01:39 PM
yeah course, but damage may be worse than first thought

Jack
25-09-08, 01:46 PM
I'll bring the sledgehammer. That will fix anything.

xe Dan
25-09-08, 02:19 PM
just take a rope and find a nice tree and use reverse lot less energy involved and i think ive got a badboyed bonnet you can have for a tenner

Dod
25-09-08, 02:44 PM
TBH, if you have the lot pulled reasonaby straight the bumper should cover most of the damage and as long as it all bolts on reasonably well, you're alright. It'd be worth investing in some stone chip to cover the parts that have had cracked and flaked paint behind the bumper to prevent rust.

Stoo, the window should be easy done, door card off, loosen the first 10mm bolt for the window runner/divider, 2 screws at the top and push it forward. Remove the ****ed item, and insert the new item.

I wonder if I needed help and put up a post, would I get as much attention? :D

Jack
25-09-08, 02:52 PM
Depends, if it was car help, not much. If you wanted "servicing" yourself, then yeah, loads of replies lol

Dod
25-09-08, 03:02 PM

True but as long as you can fix the headlight and wing positions, **** it. The rest'll be hidden behind the bumper so It wont matter.

25-09-08, 04:49 PM
nah thanks mate bought myself a gsi last night!

Lauren
25-09-08, 04:49 PM
If it's something Stoo can't do it wouldn't be worth my while to take it to a dealership to be fixed. I've already spent £130 on parts, the car isn't worth much.

Dod
25-09-08, 04:54 PM
If its fooked, its scrap time I'm afraid. But at least then you can buy a 3dr.

Anyway, theres a few folks looking for parts from 4drs as well so it'll be a few pound made back.

C14se
25-09-08, 04:56 PM
that would be a good think getting a 3dr

Wouldnt take it to a dealership IMO. You have spent £130 on parts they will charge you probably 3 times that to fix it  . Should be an easyish fix, the headlight panel may need some persuasion with a magic knocking stick :thumb:

If you do have to break it, the vultures are circling, lol

It is, done £50,000 miles and engine has never had anything wrong with it. It was owned by my aunt whos other half used to work for vauxhall so it was serviced every week. So it would be a shame.

I have to point out, you say you want the wings, have you actually looked at the pic? lol
Also, one door is a little bent where my boyfriend punched it.

Think you might have more on your hands than you first thought. Yes, I'm talking about the Nova.

Looking at the external damage to that car I think it could be a lot worse than everyone is hoping for. Even if you repair the cosmetic damage, there could still be some pretty serious damage relating to the geometry which will ultimately make this car unsafe to drive.

Look, theres no point on satrting on the what if's until the damage has been assessed and a decision weather its repairable has been made or not.

Lauren, its your first car, and I undersatnd the centimental Value it holds. But you also need to remember, there are bigger and better cars out there and you cant keep it forever anyway.

Right, Stoo now can't make it, I really need the car looked at before my driving test, which is 14th November, about 2 and a half weeks away. Can anyone else help with this? Pretty please? :(

Well, if it's not done before my driving test I'm gonna have to scrap it. :(

Scrap it. Nearly four weeks since your first post. You cant be that bothered about getting it fixed. There must be someone local who can do the work?!

surely you know someone who can handle a screwdriver - its not that hard to fix the work that needs doing (except the dents but dents/rust add characterlol)

Stoo was going to help, but hasn't been able to.

I'll make an effort then lol. Not saying I can do it, as it does look quite bent, but still...

Would seem the obvious person to fix it IMO. Or at least the one to arrange the repairs!

things like this are too simple to ask others to fix your own problems.

he'll atleast show a little more respect to the vehicle if he fixes it himself.
if he doesn't, he wont care and do it again.
