dash lites!?

am i rite in thinking that on a mk2 dash the heater dials have only 2 bulbs illuminating all 3 dials?!?
the fcukas have never worked. :evil:

Nope, there are 3 lights, one for each dial...

1: Pull the knobs off the Left and Right hand dials (use a flathead screwdriver to get behind them if necessary) You should see a screw once you've removed the knobs. Unscrew these and the surround will come out. If you look to the top right of the left and right dials you should see the tip of the bulb. It's a bit fidly, but if you get a pair of tweazers and gently pull the old bulbs out they should come out. Use the tweazers again to gently push the new bulbs in - be really careful though!

2: The Middle knob comes out as a full unit, pull on the knob (as it pulls out to activate the rear windscreen heater) then keep pulling and the whole thing comes out (surround included). Turn this around and you should see two metal prongs at the top. Pull these and this is where the third bulb is kept. Replace it, slot it back in.

Screw the surrounds back, push the knobs back on, and they should all work (hopefully).

Sometimes if one bulb goes, all three stop working, which is what might have happened with yourself.

You can get the bulb from any car parts shop.

Good luck, and do it in good light! It's a nightmare trying to retrive the bulbs in the dark if you drop them behind the dash, LOL.
