i need to take the exhaust manifold off to switch it with my SR manifold. but the bolts have rounded and wont come off and one of them has snapped :( how would i get it off?
Cut the heads of the bolts and then have them extracted, or you could try tapping round with a hammer and chisel?
smack on a smaller socket and use lots of wd40 or gt35
and try and heat the manifold up

soak them every day for a week with WD40 or similar. Then get some vice grips on them.
just drive into your garage til it falls off

Try bashing a 1/2" sized socket on, that normally works for me, when it doesn't and they round off with that, I bash a 12mm on and if that fails then out comes the drill.

LMFAO!!!lol
surely heating the manifold will make it harder? as the manifold would expand and make the bolts tighter

sometimes the heat works to loosen, dont know why but its worked for me before. the only bugger then is heating it too much and having hardened steel which doesnt drill out too easily...

its the difference in expansion and contraction rates of the two metals, it breaks them apart when theyve seized with rust.

Stud= steel, nut=copper (at least they should be), the copper should expand faster than the steel, therefore heating the nuts should loosen them enough. I still say bashing a slightly smaller socket on will work though.
