would this bit of rot cause an mot failure ?

errr i don't no i would think so but not Shaw do they look around the boot sill i have never sin them look

you can fail an mot for bodywork with sharp edges due to rust but they cant fail it if they cant see it..

can it be seen when the rubber strip is over it? as mot testers are not allowed to remove anything

can see the bubbling but not the rust its just the centre that is weak

The whole panel there looks rotten, can see bubbling and weak metal.
Ive never seen a nova rust there like that.
Its not within 30cm of the sills/suspension/chassis legs though really, so it may be ok and pass. Probably at least get an advisory though.

nope not a fail.
the tester should look in the boot at the stop shox mounts and seatbelt mounts.

Depends how bad it is where the rear panel meets the boot floor, judging from that pic, I'd be surprised if there's anything down there, as that top bit should in no way be that bad.

put some duct tape over the top 100% pass then :) not allowed to remove anything off ur car my dads transit passed 4 mots with a duct tape corner on the the rear door

Tug on the grab handle a couple of times with the boot closed, be ready to watch the rear of the car fall to bits.

2 different colours from rushed paint job by previous owner dont no why :S
seems fairly solid just the middle rotted strange place i know thanks for help duck tape for now :D

Have you checked parts of the car you cant see? If the rear panel is that rotten (will leak water after a while) what are the boot corners, chassis legs like. And duct tape is a poor bodge IMO.
