My old nova (the black SR) was going to cost me well over £300 to weld and there was alot of work to make it up to scratch. so my mate was selling this for £300, its really good condition. tiny bits of rust on arches, no major rust patches, dents, scrapes or anything. its going to be sprayed black. so far, i have fitted my 15 inch wolfrace katana's which fit perfect with no rubbing at all :)
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn150/91-Nova-SR/P9200033.jpg
then i fitted the tinted rear lights.
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn150/91-Nova-SR/P9200032.jpg
next up was the interior, my SR had a MINT red interior with a black gsi dash. (dash being fitted tomorrow, along with the central locking and leccy windows)
before:

after:

then i wired up my 12" mutant sub and amp, took a while because it didnt work, couldnt figure out why but i got it working in the end ;) also wired up 6x9's on parcel shelf.

here's a blurred pic of my wheels lol
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn150/91-Nova-SR/P9200034.jpg
i took off the rocker cover to give it a clean aswell and thought i might aswell take a picture with it off, pretty clean engine bay. but need a new rocker cover as my one has gone a gay brownie colour :( any suggestions on how to restore it to a nice shiny silver?

thats about it for the moment, im getting it resprayed in black soon. what you think? thanks for looking. (by the way having this new 1.2 nova merit kind of makes my name pointless lol)

NovaBoi92
20-09-08, 08:26 PM
oh, also theres a few scrapes on ths mirrors, and i think they got there by going round a corner too fast and scraping them on the floor because of the silly bouncy suspention and high ride height lol

Stuart
20-09-08, 08:26 PM
I think you should mod it how YOU want to mod it.... NOT how someone else wants your car to look.

i aam going to, its going to be sprayed black, i already have a gsi front bumper and gsi skirts to be sprayed and fitted, may get a new back bumper. tints are going in tomorrow also. what im thinking of doing is getting a full body kit and the biggest spoiler i can find...yeah. lol

Andy
20-09-08, 08:43 PM
Nice one.Are you keeping it as a 1200? As for the rocker cover, sand it until it gets the crap off then work your way through the grades from say 120 to 1500 then it will be shiny again

NovaBoi92
20-09-08, 08:45 PM
i was going to change over the engine to my 1400 out of the sr, but to be honest i had a little drive of the 1.2 and it seems great, nippy, cheaper to insure. so im keeping the 1.2 :) and thanks for the info

NOBODY LIKES MY WHEELS :( i do tho :) and the black one, i feel really sorry for it lol my mate is having it, i made a deal with him on my new car that he could have my old one once ive taken everything i need off of it. it was just too rotten to fix tbh, in the wheel well bit needed a big plate, and the other side. plates under each light, and on the ouhter bit of the light holder thing, new crossmember, new rear arches and a big bit in the boot. then the doors needed changing, and the wings, and alot of the electrics and little things like washer jets and headlights needed to be fixed because they werent working. im glad to say that everything works in this new one, its just a case of making it look like the old one - black with the red interior, rear tints, those alloys and a gsi front bumper with laguna splitter.

NovaBoi92
20-09-08, 08:59 PM
yeah jon it was for the best, and tbh people fit digi dashes in novas all the time, i prefer the standard clocks imo

NovaBoi92

in most of these pictures it looks really nice, but when you remove the wings and everything then you can see how rotten it is

when my new one is finished it will look like my old nova but everything will be sweet, and its not costing any more money than it would repairing my old one!

LEWI007
20-09-08, 09:11 PM
Not bad looks a bit chavvy but the front end is nice but not on an sr. really smart though except for those DAMN WHEELS!!! lol

NovaBoi92
20-09-08, 09:23 PM
thats a good idea thanks for that. night rider l.e.d's...hmmm? good thought lol

LEWI007
20-09-08, 09:28 PM
No prob mate i was gonna do it to mine once but it would look better on yours with a black car and red lights flashing along the grille

like this

IMHO ditch the wheels, tints and the gash rear lights :thumb:

LD16v
21-09-08, 08:26 PM
Is them wheels the wrong offset or is it just me? I'd fit the window frames from the SR and remove/or fit the vinyl to suit the frames.
Not sure about them tints and rear lights, alot lighter smoke would suit better... Imo
Why fit the black dash with a grey interior?

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 08:27 PM
the offset on the wheels are perfect :)

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 08:29 PM
i dont really think that the tints look too good on that nova (being blue) but i want to get it resprayed in black like my old one, then it will look really nice. it looked nice on my old black SR the tints and black back lights, its just they dont really match the blue

Defo work better on black car, when you planning on getting the car sprayed?
When you going to lower her? It'll make big difference.

John
21-09-08, 08:51 PM
Hmm, blue car and red seats doesn't work imo. The lights are awful, and the wheels don't suit it. Well the thread title is "what do you think of........"!
Get it lowered, clean the muck off the tailights, and find a better looking set of wheels, say some cesaro's with 195/45/15 tyres.

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 08:52 PM
well theres a few little spots of rust that i can repair with some filler etc. . make that all smooth. if not late this month then next month some time it will be sprayed. i did find a lowering kit on ebay, 60mm front, 40mm back. but my mate said to me today that you cant drop the back by 60mm because of the axel or something? what does he mean? so what would i need to do to drop the nova by 60mm all round? just new springs? no problem?

John
21-09-08, 08:57 PM
Your mate is wrong. G-max/spax etc etc wouldn't produce a 60mm lowering kit if it wouldn't work lol. If i were you i'd stick with either 40 or 60 all round. what offset are those wheels? they look like they're going to catch, badly.

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:00 PM
the offset is 40. and when i went to fit those new wheels, the front bolts were SO tight it seemed impossible to get them off by hand, i was trying for ages lol so i took it to local tyre and wheel place and they fitted the new ones for me, and they tested it to make sure that it wouldnt catch, and it doesnt. trust me, it may look like it in that picture but its been tested and doesnt catch or rub! so im thinking 60 all round? sound good?

TIDGE
21-09-08, 09:00 PM
60mm imo

They may not catch now, but when you've got it down i reckon they will catch. Only one way of finding out!

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:04 PM
no thats what was tested, pushed the back end down and the rear arches just pass straight down the side of the wheel with a few mm to spare, doesnt rub or catch

LD16v
21-09-08, 09:06 PM
Defo 60mm, ask your mate why you can't fit 60mm's to the rear again, I'd love to hear that for a cock & bull story!

John
21-09-08, 09:08 PM
Hmmm, what about cornering at speed? When the tyre sidewall flexes? what profile tyres are you running? I'm not being picky, just trying to warn you of the inevitable arch mods after lowering. I originally lowered my nova 45mm on 185/60/14 tyres, and it caught the outer arch lip.

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:08 PM
he said something about the rear axel...?

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:09 PM
ooh it is 195 tyres

John

lol more info required.

John
21-09-08, 09:10 PM

What about the aspect ratio? (ie the middle bit 195 55 15)

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:11 PM
thats all he said he just mumbled afterwards, then i asked what did you say, then he mumbled agan so i didnt bother lol. he also said something about the axel on his 5 door nova being a diferent shape ti that of the 3 door axel>? hmm

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:11 PM
the aspect ratio is 50, they are 195/50/R15 tyres with the rim offset at 40

John

Rubbish, the axle is EXACTLY the same, the arches differ obviously.

Ok i'll have a quid says they catch!lol

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:15 PM
i was just told that i should roll the front arches. kept meaning to find out how to do it. so, how is it done? thanks (and im not giving you a quid!!!!) :)

John
21-09-08, 09:18 PM
The fronts should be fine, it's the rear that you'll have trouble with. A professional oufit should be able to roll them up for you.

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:20 PM
but the front - what about when i turn the wheels

LD16v
21-09-08, 09:21 PM
I went for 195/45/15 on ET49 vaux wheels to be sure, don't think I've seen fronts rolled on nova, sometimes rears are rolled with big wheels. Don't think it's something i'd do...

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:22 PM
i think i might aswell buy the springs, fit them and then run the car for a while to see if i get any problems. sound good?

John
21-09-08, 09:24 PM
but the front - what about when i turn the wheels

Yeah the higest part of the tyre still stays in exactly the same place when the wheel is turned. The nature of the arch means they should be fine. I've only ever heard of the fronts catching with naff et 17's/18's.

John
21-09-08, 09:25 PM

oh right sounds ok then. i really have to do SOMETHING tho lol its just so high, am i right in saying that the SR's were standardly lower (i dont think standardly is a word but you know what i mean!)

LD16v
21-09-08, 09:26 PM
Good luck, hope it doesn't rub.
SR's couple mm lower

NovaBoi92
21-09-08, 09:27 PM
me too :)

NovaGuy1400SRi
23-09-08, 07:46 PM
iirc SR's were down 10-15mm lower than base models.

Looks ok, not too keen on the wheels but get it lowered and they might suit it a bit better.
