My nova LET project!!

hi! i think its about time i started a projects thread. as i have decided to make the car into a road going track car i will be getting the car ready for summer 09!! the budget is not huge but its also not small. the cars booked in for a respray on the 25th of oct so need to get the engine out before then!!
below is the start of the work and the work is being carried out in no order so be patient!!!


started by removing the back axle i then cleaned all the underseal off it with nitromorse and the pressure washer.

i then set about removing the bushes from the axle, i had been told this would be very hard to do as they would be very tight!!! couldnt of been easier!!!

used a claw hammer and hit not to hard right on the metal sleeve.

i then painted all the back axle with hammerite paint with 2 coats. looks quite good if i do say so!!

the back shocks were quite tatty aswell so they got the nitromorse treatment and the will be finished tommorow!!

next was the drums. had painted them with 300deg paint but one session at knockhill and it burnt off!!! nitromorsed them then presure washed them off they will be painted tommorow aswell!!!!

well didnt get anything done yesterday as the weather wasnt the best!!! got at it again the day thoand set about removing the fuel tank!
in the process i found that the tank had a hole in it!!!

exhaust off then the ptrol tank was removed had to cut all the jubilee clips as they were all rusty!!!

front end of the car is poly bushed anyway so just the back end to do now. get all the seams cleaned ready for the rear getting seam welded. hopefully this week i will get the engine out not the easy when its a side of the road job!!!

welll not updated this for a while now and as a lot more work has gone on i thought i should get my finger out and update!!
as im going down the road of preping it for the road but also for trackdays the idea is to have it fun for the track and also practical for the road (to a certain degree)!

had some good purchases over the past couple of months so i will let the photos do the talking!

intercooler plumbed in and behind the bumper tried to avoid the big mouth look. prefer the more stealth approach!

also purchased the exhaust off rick draper (thanks) its a straight through 3inch all the way through to a 4 inch backbox. this was made by jp exhausts and is top quality!!

was happy with the way it sat and that i didnt have to cut the bumper!!
so got ma pal innes at kilmory coachworks to do the fabricatig of the exhaust to the downpipe as the down pipe diamater is smaller than the system. thi will have to do for now toii i get a 3inch down pipe.

then the next thing was to get a decent suspension setup. i was running gmax to start but these were a bit soft for the xe. so a upgrade was needed!
lucky these nice set of spax rsx turned up 2 month old for 200 notes!! cheers wings!!

so i got to work fitting these very happy with the way the car sits. fromt set to 7 and the back 7. easy enough to adjust at the road side!!

well its been a while... not much happening really just saving for the respray in june then it will be a mad rush to get the car ready for fast and modified.
Changed a few things over the past few month and have a few parts to be fitted!
had a few problems along the way also but these have been easy to fix and cheap!
still have a set of coolant hoses to order and my new radiator from txautosport also to get the rear cage painted up ready for fitting! i also have a new polished rocker cover to go on and will have a new stainless tophat cover. also picking up a new bonnet and skirts off gordon livsey (cheers gordon!)

plans after F&M are to strip the car down again and get lots of bits powdercoated. at first the car was just built as a toy but i have been buying nice shiny bit therefor i dont see the point in half of it being nicely done and the rest of it all dirty so the plan is to get it MINT

well wee update here. cars nearly put back together now ready for scottish modified. just really been building up doors and fitting windows. i have still to fit the skirts, spoiler, grab handle and then a good clean and polish. i will fire a fewrt pictures up. hopefully tonight i will get the rosejointed linkage fitted and get the scuttle cover fitted.

the cam cover has gone like that as its polished, not protected.
plans are to get a full respray inside and out, new turbo and manifold setup,possibly an evo 8 turbo with adapted manifold, compomotive mo's in white, also will have a spare bonnet with a bonnet pod on it and a spare gsi bumper with pods on each corner.

the system is rick drapers old one off the NEVA
