First off apologies for the non Nova/Vaux post but I'm stuck and in need of a little help needed here (Baxter?) I am wanting to change the discs/pads on my parents 05 Nissan Terrano II and it has me stumped.
I have no Haynes for it as you can't buy one, I have downloaded the factory service manual but it's pretty vague.

I have taken a screen shot from the FSM and used my paint skillz to show you what I mean (hopefully)

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2716/r20hubassyym7.th.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=r20hubassyym7.jpg)

The problem is I can not remove the wheel hub that attaches to the front face of the brake disc.
I have removed the bolts securing it to the brake disc (BLUE) and also the nuts which appear to secure the free running hub to the wheel hub (RED)
It does move a few mm, separating from the disc face but I get the impression something like the drive shaft hub nut is stopping it from sliding right off. I have removed the dust cap (YELLOW) and there is no hub nut, just some very strange looking snap rings and washers which I don't want to tamper with not knowing how they remove etc.

With the nuts removed (RED) I tried to split the centre of the free running hub (PINK) with a hammer and chisel as I was thinking maybe the hub nut is behind there?
However it won't split and now I am stuck. I have guessed my way as far as I can lol

Does anyone have any experience with these 4WDs or do other vehicles use a similar hub setup? Having never had anything to do with the hub on one before I have no idea.

it looks complicated lol

Looking at the FSM It seems to show that I do have to split the free running hub to gain access but then the wheel bearing etc is all exposed.

Surely the wheel hub and free running hub should lift off as one?

I have searched for Navara and come up with very little. I am about to look for Frontera/L200/Hilux etc to see if they are similar.

It is **** not being able to change the discs lol so I hope one of you experts can point me in the right direction.

Cheers, Liam

Right after looking at the diagram, where you have removed the screws (blue) the hub plate, is that what holds the disc on? can you get in behind it? What does the new disc look like? That may give you a clue as to how the new one comes off? Sorry, probably not much help. Good luck.

it looks like the same as my patrol,

remove the locker (bit that sticks out in the middle, be very carefully as spring loaded and have groves that need to be seated correct)
removed the hub nut, Nissan say you need a special tool, but a hammer and chiesl does it,
pull hub from Axel, (carefully as bearings will drop out lol)
remove the 6 bolts holding the hub to the disk, and attack with hammer to separate them

but I'm slightly worried why it will need new disks already, my patrol has done over 100K miles, does hard offroading, and its still on the original disks, and its only ever had 1 set of pads in its life lol

Cheers Pete, yeah that appears to hold the disc on and I can get in between the wheel hub and disc with a pry bar and move it a few mm but it will go no further.
Here is what the disc looks like

They are strange, look like they would be more at home on a type 1/2 VW lol
I'm 90% certain I need to split the auto lock hub to gain access to the hub nut and then it will come apart mate, but as I say it doesn't want to separate.

Thanks mate

Cheers GB, damn that sounds a **** on, well it's done 50K but never had pads and there's a nice lip on the disc now. Otherwise I would just do the pads. So to remove the locker do I need to split it down my funky pink line?

I have seen the 'special tool' pictured in the FSM. Hammer and chisel sounds more up my street, no ginder? lol
This is a joke for changing the discs! Nissan R20 FTL once more.

my lockers are a bit more high tech then yours lol

once you remove them you will end up with this
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a191/baxters83/Picture002.jpg
remove the wheel, where the shaft splines are, you will notice two little screws remove them and remove the locking plate, undo the hub nut, pull the disk and hub will come off together, (once caliper is removed) then undo the 6 bolts holding the hub to disk, attack with hammer lol

but theres bearings, spring clips, seals, all over the place so be carefull
