ello :], im 18 and have recently bought a 91 Black 3dr 1.4 SR (its a peach for ?600)

ive bought a K&N bolt on for it (well, it was free cuz i work at motorworld :D)

Ive read the tutorial about fitting to a 1.4SR, and im confused about the fuel jets. where wud i aquire some larger jets from? would some of a mk2 astra GTE be ok or too big??

help is required for this learner modder :P

Ive got a K&N on my 1.4SR and i just put it str8 on, just hooked up the oil breather to it and and there was a small tube sucking in air that i blocked up, works fine. Not sure if that helps tho lol

lol :P

I could just whack it on i guess, but over a period of time ive heard that because the fuel jets arent large enough to cope with the new fuel/air mixture that the K&N creates that bad things could happen.......

also, cuz there is two pipes that need to be disconnected, are there any places where i can pick up a cheap K&N crankcase breather to block the smaller pipe in style ;P

Theres a guide to fitting a k&n bolt on filter in the engine articles section.

lol :P

Ive read it twice now, but it says about larger fuel jets, if i cud get some off a Astra GTE, would the bore of the jet be a good enough size ?

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the astra GTE fuel injected hence you wouldn't be able to nick the jets of the carb because it doesn't have one?

:?

anywho, i assume you're running the standard 2e3 carb, yeh? if so, you could try the jets from a 1.3sr because they're slightly bigger than the ones on the 1.4 (95 and 110 on the 1.4 vs 97.5 and 112.5 on the 1.3sr) otherwise your best bet is to get it tuned on a rolling road, they can set the carb up with the proper jets :)
