Managed, at last, to buy this. after constantly hassling the owner who wanted to sell it but wouldnt answer the phone or anything.
It's an early mk1 due to no grab handle, only one wig mirror, and no seat belts in the back! might be wrong!
Need’s a bit of TLC but its very clean, its even got the “Maid in Spain” sticker on the wind screen.

A few pic’s -

I said "looks". Arches dont look bad apart from th obvious hole bottom o/s/r. As we all know with Novas, looks can be deceiving!

Rims are golf mk3 bbs, dont know what the fit will be like yet, hopefully they'l fit!!:(

I have also been converted over to the mk1 side of life lol, but still like the look of some mk2s

the paint code is E534, Ive had a look at RJ's paint code list, but its not there. my guess is copper/bronzish. any help at finding out what it realy is would be great!!

Yeah mines bubbling up a bit there but tbh its nothing serious, it always makes me laugh when you see a b-reg engine bay looking really clean like that then when you you open up a mk2 bonnet and all the seams are just fukked! lol

Whats the overall plan for the car then?

Overall plan - staying like it is (i.e. no thing going to be added, only metal where the rust as eatenlol)

At the moment only changes I have done are removing the mud flaps, lowered 40mm, white multi spoke VW BBS wheels with the standard steel's centre caps to go on, and i need to order some German/euro style plates, hopping to get an euroish look at the end

Long-term plan - is to get a 1600 8v in but the insurance co. wont be happy at the moment if I did that

Mate, leave it as it is and forget the Golf wheels, the off set will be gay anyway. That looks fantastic.

Jenks
22-09-08, 12:12 AM
cheers! I was a bit worried about the off set on those . So keep the steels then?

Dod
22-09-08, 10:03 AM
Yeah, The 13"s look fantastic especially when its lowered.

Whats the plans for it? If you're going for power ideally you'll need 14" to cover a decent set of brakes unless you want to go for m,assive spec and priced 4 pots.

Alco, its worth looking at Lynz's China Blue Nova WIP in the Projects page. Its kept minimal but looks fantastic.

Just had a flick through it and in 83 the two red options were carmine red and carnelian red, the latter also available in metallic, but they both look too red to be what you've got. Could always ring vauxhall and get the colour off them.

did you actually try the bbs's on? what did it look like?? Personally i would have thought they'd look good another colour.

Jenks
24-11-08, 12:58 AM
No haven’t tried them on yet, as I haven’t got any tyres to put on them! What colour would you suggest? I thought gun metal or a simillar colour would have been good!

It sure looks nice enough, get that rust hole on the innerwing plated from underneath.

I bet it must have next to no grip on those 13" steel wheels though. I say get some 14" steels fom a 2.0 Cav, 185 tyres & youre away.

Its not worth butchering the arches to get those VX whels on, if they are 4 stud.

Cheers for the comments lads, its not o the road yet as I’ve got a bit of work touching it up e.g. inner wing.

Spudly- that’s the plan with the inner wing, its just getting my mate to pull his finger out and come over and do it for me lol. I'm still thinking about what to do wheels wise, id love a set of banded SR steal’s or Borbet A's but I’ll have to wait till funds allow.
