Winter reshell thread/Track car.

As you all know my track car was built up over a week the first time just to show what can be done when you get your **** in gear.

After useing the car hard for the last 2/3 years i still see no need for a reshell
but the opportunity came the other day to get hold of a nova i sold back in feb this year.

It looked very sorry for it self so knew i had to save it.
Well after a few months i had run out of room so sold it on to tsnovat after i had fitted new windows and shock's/springs and a bloody good clean.

The other day i was speaking to him on the phone when he said that he mite be selling it so a deal was struck up and i went and picked it back up yesterday.

So all thats left to do now is send the payment to Tony on payday and get on with me reshell.
Work should start on it this weekend.
There isnt much wrong with my old shell but im making this one so it can go on the road aswell as track and taking a bit more time on it.
Please leave comments also my old shell should be up for sale in the near futor complete with quick relise bumper and some other bits but nothing that will be needed for the new build pm me if interested.
Bring on the mrk2 massive lol.

Its having all the cage and running gear from the old 1 put into it.
Ive got to get the engine bay prepped first for me dad to do the stitch welding for me.
Ive also got to get a plate fitted were the spare wheel goes as i have a centre exit exhaust. (Dars old system)

Looks a good shell Christian, I hope it still looks the part when its complete.

I do like a subtle/tidy looking tack car. It makes tham even more stealthy. Dave Marshall's as an example.

I think it will be staying white for the mo but with a blue and white checked roof to match the old one but with no writeing on it this time.
Stuart if you were to get the ghay pink you were looking at please save me some lol.
As for everybody that has offered to help the more the merry.
I started on it today after work.
\ive got all the stuff out of it and got on with stripping the carpet and sound deadening.
All was going well untill the screw driver slipped across number 1 & 2 knuckle on my left hand.
Not good pain blood and no plaster's.
I had to settle for a cup of tea and a kiss better from Carla and gave up for now.
No pic's but i will get some tomorrow in the daylight.

The good news is that i didnt try to take any more finger off and have got some plasters.
I also cut the slam panel out and may cut the fire wall out tomorrow but not sure yet.

All is going across to this one once it's prepped up.the bumpers are being sprayed huracane grey and it will be the first nova ive had with out the need of side skirts lol.

I got the cage and seats out today after work.
I couldnt really do much else as i had me puppy with me and he seams to atract oil whenever near it.

Seat rail flex causes the floor to split there. Few holes then a bit of weld and it will all be fine.

my swirl pot has turned up also my rear braided brake hose's.
Ive just got to get on with getting rid of the rest of the grey nova and then strip the rest of stick down.

Bit of an update.
With most of the grey nova gone now and Dougie coming round on saturday to rid it of a few more bits i should be getting on with this soon.
I have spent the last few weeks working on my mates 2ltr xe nova that he bought.
If i ever see the person who did the "CON"version i will strap him to the back of the veccy for a trip down the nearest motorway to make up for the things ive had to sort out on it over the last 3 weeks.
Very long story.
He has paid me for my time tho.
Well as norm i will be working on his car again tomorrow after work.Wile im sorting out his car he is finishing of what sealer is left on the seams (of my car) and cleaning them up.
Fares fare.
No piccys again but i will get some of the nova ive been working so somebody can shed some light on stevie wonders work lol.

It's alot better now after 3 weeks sorting stuff E.G bare wires wound around the +battery terminal/no heaters/heater pipes in the boot/hot/cold switch broken/fuse box screwed to the dash/door held on with what looked like part of a spark plug and the best one was that the SPORTS TUNED 4 SPEED GEARBOX that he had only just had fitted was nothing more than (once i had told my mate)a f20 and nobody had removed the plastic lug from the gear stick and now has 5 gears why this shell didnt have a 5 speed setup already is beyond me.
Major fail.
I will get some pic's tomorrow of how it is now with all the above fixed and the bonnet changed back to a white one.
Im sure i will find more probs with the car any imfo would be great.

Still no real update as not been in the mood this weekend after getting the news about my work.
If you didnt already know i work for the Honda factory in swindon which seams to be on the verge of jumping down a big slide.
All this and just before christmas and the start of my reshell.
If i had known this was on the cards i wouldnt of started it.Im not going to sell up and just give up on it but i may have to take a year out wile getting things sorted.
I will still be on the seen but may have to grab some passenger rides through the year if any body has any free.

Went to garage looked at car shut garage door went back in for a cup of tea as it was bloody cold.

The main thing im waiting on at the mo is for somebody to do me welding.Dars bro has offered to do it for me but it has to wait at the mo till ive got my funds at the end of the month.

I also got this insured the other day with A/F
£225 with everything declared and as a 2ltr 16v Im well chuffed and it will make me get my ar5e ingear so i can take it out for a spin once all done.

Lee is also welding the cage into the shell i will just need you to get the dash back in.
Dew to being a light weight i need abit of gerth to get the dash back in around the cage at the front.

The work on the shell should start very soon once it is back from Lee's.

Im not going to look for work strait of as going to have a month to chill out and get the car sorted and the garage/lockup sorted out.

Cant realy see much in the pics but the cage is now in and will be welded in place tomorrow.
I have also put my name down for a few bits from Ollys beast may it live on on track.....

It is having a full dash this time with heater and a switch pannel in the middle that i got from the rally nova i broke last year.
I will get some pic's once i get the car back and get on with the rebuild.
Ive still got to strip the rest of the blue one down yet.

Did it to a car Neil Robson was doing with some mates as a budget track car to take to the ring, i was there for some other reason, cant think what now lol And if you met Neil (Oli Danker will tell you) he's quite slender,and didn't have the MAN power to put behind the swing of the lump hammer so got all primal on it for him,went a bit OTT and then hit my hand into the turret lol lol

I should be starting on the shell to clean up the welds and then start painting the inside of the shell and the engine bay then the rebuild will begin.

That because it is still going to on the road for road tests and it will make it much easyer to carry a spare wheel and jack just incase.
It would be left out for track days as the wheels will be in the veccy.

Tiss the same cage but Lee had to remove the bar to get the cage in and couldnt get it to meet back up once the shell had been welded so asked me if it was ok to leave it out.

It looks a bit messy in the bay but most bits that have paint on them eg bottom arms/rack things like that are being changed over so not worryed about getting paint on them.
