Nice one mate. What's the spec? Not a fan of your FMIC I must say, Not wanting a more subtle look, or are you out of room in there? lol

alan b
17-09-08, 05:02 PM
pretty much out of room, i could have used a smaller one but i wnated it like that, the 2 elec fans are massive!

intercooler? wheres that? cant see it, must be discreet...

Adam
17-09-08, 06:41 PM
Cool.
IC is fooking massive and slightly ott. One that fitted the cutout in the bumper would of suited it more imo.
Very nice motor though :)

Have you driven it yet?

adamz
17-09-08, 07:20 PM

Very nice dude, but as said, that FMIC is a wee bit OTT in my opinion

RSTChris

Intercooler looks shocking.

Rich
17-09-08, 07:40 PM
Reckon you could of hidden that intercooler behind the bumper lol at the moment its likely to cause accidents from people looking and thinking "wtf is that?"

Will F
17-09-08, 10:39 PM
lol

Worst FMIC I think I have ever seen.

What intercooler?

Ben
17-09-08, 11:02 PM
lol

Worst FMIC I think I have ever seen.

EVER since alloy was first mined!

That would look out of place on a Evo, hope its at least 400bhp to warrant it.

dan16v
18-09-08, 12:47 AM
Would have been a nice car if it didnt have that house radiator hanging off the front bumper!

Worst FMIC I think I have ever seen.

Ah yeah thats nice. Someone spends a fortune on Turboing his car (and being ireland based, probably twice what you'd need to spend in the UK) and all you can do is slag it off?

Nice one lads.

Ok, its a bit over the top but its done though isnt it and its more than most of us have managed.

Paddy, fantastic job mate. Rep added. Now do up a WIP for it.

Pistol Pete
18-09-08, 09:39 AM
Any more pics? Car looks good, are they Irmscher wheels? As has been said FMIC isnt exacly subtle, but its your car at the end of the day!! Whats the spec of the engine?

Dod, not having a go, but not everyone will like what someone does to a car. But then its not what you say its how you say it,:thumb:

Ben
18-09-08, 09:42 AM
And also dod you say cracking job, all you can see is the IC. Could still have a 1.6 in there (i doubt it) but how the **** can you complimant workmanship when its just a standard gsi with hole cut in the front.

Dod
18-09-08, 09:43 AM
Aye, you dont need to like it but dont slag it off mate. Plain and simple.

As for the wheels, yer they're Irmischer items. Split Spokes (cant remember the exact name)

I got a set as well, they look well on Novas.

Ben, over here these conversions are pretty unheard of and demand respect first off for not Being Jap as everyone else does, secondly for doing it to a Nova which are rare as fook over here and thirdly its a big build with no prior shouting about it.

Ok, the IC is a bit much but its not been out on with a NA engine. Theres a spec to follow as well.

So therefore I stand by my statement.

If people put pictures up they've got to expect good comments and bad comments, I know I would. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and if you don't want other peoples opinions you don't put pictures up.

Also fail to see how its more than most have managed, how many LET Nova's on this site again?

Ernie
18-09-08, 09:55 AM
Fair play for building it but imho im not to kean on the fmic as looks out of place with the rest of the car.

Dod
18-09-08, 09:55 AM
Agreed but how many are in Ireland? I count 2 excluding this one.

Ernie
18-09-08, 10:02 AM
If he had kept it looking standard it would of been more fun kicking somebodys **** without showing youve got alot of power imho.

Pic won't work, but having read the comments on her that might be a GOOD thing!

LeeH is right though, don't shout about your car unless you are willing to take the criticisms as well as the plaudits. . . .

18-09-08, 10:46 AM
Is the top of the intercooler mounted on the grill?!

Tis a nice car apart from the front end tho, what lump is in it then?

Dod
18-09-08, 10:47 AM

I think thats the Fans mounting to the IC.

i dont remember you all ripping phil when he stuck an intercooler that big on his corsa!!!

Ben
18-09-08, 11:46 AM
Yeah but Phil openly admits it looked gash, was the whole point of the corsa, like i said, hopefully massive spec to warrant the IC.

18-09-08, 11:56 AM
It looks like its been punched in the face!

fair play. I wouldnt have done it like that though. Wheels look good in White however.

Get some more pics up alan, is that an intercooler off an evo 5/6?

Dont take offence to comments on here, its just constructive criticism,

alan b
18-09-08, 01:53 PM
couldnt give a toss if people dont like how it looks! its functional and thats all that matters to me. spec is just phase 2 really, eds phase 2 chips, walbro, uprated fpr, 2.5 inch exhaust, boosting to .8 bar at the mo but have a few more bits coming so i can run a bar without worry.
and massive spec doent warrant ic. i had it lieing around and knew it was a good ic so i used it. it sits so far foward because of the elec fans ive used. i built the car with serious thrashing in mind.

Well, fair play for doing the conversion, the car looks nice bar (imo) the i/c. Is the intercooler from a good supplier? as if its a cheapy a much smaller but better made fmic would prolly be more efficient (its not all about sizelol)!

lol tbh thats no worse than mine. I got mine off ebay without fully checking how big it was, looked cool in the picture though. After it arrived I looked to see if it would fit on the front of my car and it didnt, so i fitted it anyway LOL.

Also Dod it sounds like your bumming this car purely because its Irish? Suppose they dont have much to shout about anyway.

Yes to a certain extent. Keith Robinson and Alan'll tell you how much more expensive parts are to get over here which is why when something is made to a level such as this, that its worth shouting about.

And I hope your comment wasnt a dig at the Irish and just a general comment based on what I've said.

I'm using a small 13 row oil cooler and some Aeroquip ended braided hose. It just sits above the tie bar.

If you wanna come up a look, get in touch with Dod and he'll direct you up. Or when I get some more miles on it we'll meet somewhere.

Glad your enjoying it, Mine just makes me smile from ear to ear, I actually didnt think it would be as fast as it is, they are awesome.

same here, as it was redtop i thaut itll be a good bit quicker but wasnt expecting this atall! puts the ****s up me every time i drive it on! whered you get the aeroquip stuff?

It was all made up by the company who made my hidden intercooler and radiator combo. You can just use some normal oil hose with a hydralic style fitting on the ends. Any local hydralic firms will make it to your length and spec. Might be worth doing as then you'll be able to tuck it out of the way.

I'd also recommend chopping the intake of your turbo and rewelding it straighter. Then you don't have to cut the top half of your front panel (even though you already have)

They are hugely faster on the road than a Redtop, have you got a diff in your gearbox? If not, highly recommended. If I see you anytime soon i'll let you feel the differance the diff makes, give's them loads of grip.

Keith

alan b
21-09-08, 12:58 PM
ya i have a diff but not fitted yet waitin till i fit my new box, she'll spin in 3rd in the dry, wasnt expecting that! managment light on now:(

You not think I'm sick enough of my own Novas without having to look at both your Turbo motors. lol

Nova meet at mine, there's already a few here to begin with!!
