5 door Hatchback & loon project

Hi guys,

Havnt been a member long but wasting no time.

I have a 4 door 1.2i merit+ hatchback bought for £350 2 mths ago
genuine 55k miles with full service, No major rust just sum bubbles, Keeping this pretty much standard as brought it for the girlfriend as a 1st car. Just going to rust proof/waxoil it & a tidy up.

I also bought a 1.2i spin loon off ebay 3 weeks, Have done afew things so far service, waxoiled, welded battery tray which was the only rust on the whole car. Took the bump strips off as they were pretty much falling off anyway, Gave it a good t-cut & polish. Fitted sum alloys & euro rear lights. On the weekend i'm going to lower it 60mm depending on the weather.

Over the winter its going to be resprayed & redtop fitted.

Really need a drivers door asap if any1 has one.

Just a quick update.

Took off front wings in search of rust, Found a little surface but its pretty solid, Next was the battery tray needs a little attention. This weekend grind off the rust, Treat it & prime/paint & waxoil.

UPDATE:

Done afew things to the loon today, Waxoiled & painted afew things, Lowered it 60mm, sorted the brakes where it had been standing for abit. removed radiator as it was blocked with rust gave it a good clean.

Another small update hav'nt done much lately due to the weather but today fitted the o/s front wing that I got from the scrappy for £5, 2x new headlights 99p off ebay bargain & cleaned up the front bumper & added a small rubber splitting that was laying around in the garage off my corsa sri. I also have a redtop which needs a rebuild but dont know if its worth all the hassle for a 4door saloon.

Another small update on the daily runner.
Fitted some manta mirrors dont know if I like them so maybe coming off on the weekend. Fitted new brake shoes & put a new clamp on the rear backbox as it was blowing. I'm also on the look out for a mk2 rear bumper as I was hit up the back last week.

forgot to mention the redtop is fully rebuilt & ready to go roll on the warmer weather so I can fit it.

Hi,

Hav'nt updated this for ages as the saloons been off the road for 2 mths as been sorting the kadett out. Got to mot the nova for the winter as the kadetts going into storage.

Today put a new exhaust on, Brand new sportec system which I modded to fit the saloon by extending the rear pipe by 10"s, Pretty please doesnt look to bad as Ive never used a welder before.

Cheers, I was in too minds about what to do. I was gonna weld a pipe on the rear of the back box but then would have had to make a new hanger. Mot is on sat so hope it pass's. Anyone know the law on euro rear fogs? I know I dont need the reverse light to pass the mot. I only have one fog wired up & the reverse light is lighting up red. shall i just remove the bulb for the mot & will it pass like this? or do i need to wire both fogs up?

I was selling up but was getting really low offers of £200, I then got the kadett so kept the nova as a run around while I work on the kadett. Will sell the loon in nov/dec.

Small Update:

In march 09 the saloon was hit in the drivers door, & just before xmas it was hit up the **** for a 2nd time by a landrover causing damage to the boot lid only.

I found a drivers door after a long search & picked up a bootlid from a png member. I had the bootlid & door sprayed last week & fitted the bootlid today. I've always wanted a nova sport but never had the £££'s to get one, The loon rears are pretty plain & ugly lol so added a small sport style strip to my bootlid using some coloured vinyl to add some colour. I know its a more door & know its a mk2 & not a sport but what do you think?
Like marmite you either like it or you dont lol... I think maybe loss the irmy badge...

Not much of an update, Just afew pics. Had a small breaking (see general chat). Welder arrived today so going to start work on patching annies hatchback ready for its mot in march. front cross member, inner arch & rear spring mount. Shes also willing to learn which is great.

Thinking of selling the softstars & getting some ats classics but undecided.

Bmw Slimline rear spoiler arrived this morning, Trial Fitted it, Needs shortening abit & re-shaping. I wasnt sure about colour coding it or leaving it black (what do you think?)

Picked up my freshly painted drivers door this morning, Its not the best colour match but near enough. Trial fitted it before fitting just need to get some new door pins now.

Pitty its got 2extra doors thou, Really wanted a 2 door but this is my daily drive once the doors fitted wouldnt wanna trash a 2door loon, I was tempted to get some sport style vinyl made for the sides.

^^ Yes going to shorten it just a little as it over hangs by 5mm ^^

p.s - did u manage to get those tie bars in the end ? i had to get rid of the car and forgot about them shortly after.

Mate can i just say, that is fantastic, I love the boot viynl and the rear spoiler (leave it black) and the irmscher badge looks quality. The ATS idea is a good one although already looks good. I am a fan of all 3 door hatch's, 5 door hatch's, 2 door saloons and 4 door saloons and you have done a proper mint job on that one mate, good work!! I have a 1990 SR and i love it to peices but i dont wanna touch it at all because of its originality. would like a second nova as a project , this thread makes me want a white loon, 2 or 4 door lol !!! Really good job mate! Everything compliments each other...ie pressed plates, bmw spoiler, viynls ...oh and definetly get more viynls made up for sides. cracking job on the sportex ......question? ...did u by that sportex for a normal hatchback. is the pipe at that angle because it is meant to exit the car straight? ..good job on extention btw :) crackin car !!!

do any of the previous owners of this white loon no if it had a re-spray at some point because I have used the paint code (glacier white) and the white is a little different to the white on the car ??

I've had my car repainted in Glacier White 10U, and anything I've painted in Glacier White 10L compared it to the car looks way crisper/brighter white. Just an idea to try
