right i have decided that im moking my nova into a road going track car. im going to take the engine out and do a bi of work. the engine has 96,000 what would you recommend to replace? many thanks:thumb:
the cambelt & the oil....
do a compression test & if they look fine, then do nothing to it, apart from maybe some stronger big end bolts

ok thanks. phoned a company up here and they quoted me 170 quid for a timing belt kit 50 for top end gasket set and 40 for a bottom set also 40 for big end bearings.!
Are you sure it wasn't £70 for the timing belt kit and not £170....
As the other prices sound about right, if there genuine parts

Vauxhall for genuine bits.
Or good old ebay
make sure you get ELRING gasket stes. and if round tooth go for the GATES cambelt kit.
the kits with rollers, tensioner are over £100

I got my XE Rebuild stuff from them. Very reasonable prices and good quality parts:thumb:

I insist on Gates belt kits on twin cams tbh. They make them for GM & VAG oe stuff anyway.
Its bound to need the crankshaft end seal replacing along with the sump gasket. 8v sump gasket is the one to go for with shorter bolts.
