is it possible to fit a 8 valve head onto a small block z18xe? if so anyone no what the compression ratio will be

ok could you use the 1.8 crank in 1.6 block? i hav heard of something being done like this before but not sure

You could use the 1.8 crank in the 1.6 but you'd have to have suitable rods!:)

rods are the same as the 1600, the piston is different though, you could put the crank in a 1600 block with 1800 pistons aswell, but you would not see huge gains that way, ideally you want some custom pistons and slightly longer rods to get the compression up
you cant use 1600 high comp pistons as the pin height is all wrong
also, you will find yourself having to do a fair bit of work with the die grinder on the inside of the crank case to get the rods to clear the block, as the 1600 casting has not got the indents for the longer stroke like the 1800

in short, just fit the whole 1800

wantin to keep it 8 valve and origanal look. thought you could put an 8 valve on head onto block.is the pistons bigger in to 1.8 small block or is it just the stroke that is different
