Just been on another club and someone said that the most bhp a let has is 504bhp:confused:

Na its not chips but he knows the owner and im sure he has done some work on it? but isnt that way over 500bhp?

Qrew's Calibra?? Thats not in the UK.
Chip has a Green Calibra but ruined it on the motorway, so yes its getting a Lexus V8 conversion if he ever gets around to it.

There arent really any BIG power LETs that are reliaibly proven IMO.

Yes there are quick times & pictures/video's & rumours of 500bhp LETs to back it all up, but selling it off or breaking it just covers up the whole result IMO.

ah right so more of people saying it for bragging rights by the sound of it then

craig green
15-09-08, 04:46 PM
I'm not saying they lie, but I might aswell tell you my old 1600 was 400bhp....... Make of that what you will.

Then I sold it. lol

Specky has seen 504bhp or so on track and roads rollers, won TOTB FWD class so i dont see how poeple can say there are no proven big BHP lets around????

BIGS
15-09-08, 04:50 PM
you lie it was 390bhp

na but not the fact they lie it probley alot of people say it should be this brake should be that brake ect? then someone goes on to tell people that that car has that much bhp

You are dead right Rick. I forgot Specky (he doesnt use forums) lol

As an example though, you have been striving to build your engine, yet havent got it together for long enough yet, which goes a long way to prove that it isnt plain sailing & that many claims of big power are unfounded IMO.

TurboGav's is ofcourse one to look out for & Chips RWD Nova if its ever mapped & survives ought to make some good power.

Rob Twitchell is looking for 400bhp from his IIRC & isnt far off after more mapping etc.

Muppetsports Corsa (from MIG) sounds like a beast considering his budget..

Think a few of the lads from south yorkshire are running the power. Take danny with the gold tigra, 170 odd mph takes some horse!

Mine is a bad example, faults happen, you move on. Should have used better quality valves and not given it 2.5 bar boost on a adapted map! lol

I admire what you are doing though Rick, equally praise is due for still sticking with it.

THE ultimate Nova when its done.

Muppetsports is about 480 ish iirc
Speckys 500ish
Gold/Orange Tigra

Theres not many more in that sort of power region that i can think of.

Monti's Cav should see 500 bhp, it was 390 before taking it off the road to RWD it now he has fitted bigger turbo new inlet and a whole host of other items

I thought that orange tigra did something like 182mph ? Anyway everyone an their mum has a 400+ bhp let now. There are plenty around, and there seem to be quite a lot of people building them now.

in may 2007 redline it has a c2olet tun ing guide it goes from 250bhp stage 1 to stage 5 450bhp but says the skys the limit cars have been dyno'd around 700bhp and above?

its probably due to the crap they sell as petrol in this country...........

? Ive never had any 'crap fuel' in all the years ive been driving?, all fuel is blended to strick ron/mon numbers so the chance of getting 'crap' fuel is slim tbh!

craig green
16-09-08, 01:39 PM
Modern fuels dont sustain the mon/ron they are rated at for very long. The harmfull additives that used to be in it are banned.
This is one of the reasons SBD can't get the quoted power from the XE TB conversions anymore as they have to run far safer ign mapping due to modern fuels being poor.

dan16v
16-09-08, 02:15 PM
Craig, the reason why sbd cannot get the old power quotes are not due to modern fuels being poor, its due to them being on spec!. Years ago people did not realy care about 'give away' in petrol (blending to higher ron/mon numbers than stated spec). Most of the time the fuel was far higher octane than the spec stated at the pump.
Now we have much better analysers/planning and can blend the fuel very close to the target mon/ron required for the given spec, and obvioisly save alot of money as were not giving away higher spec molecules for free!.

All these people who claim they have XXXX amount of power, and I can name only one car which has proven this to me so far, thats Specky's. I struggle to beleive that there is more than a handful of LET's over 400bhp in this country.

As I get told quite often, get a massively high power figure some mickey mouse rollers and spent the next year talking about it in the pub. If thats what you want then go for it!

My 246bhp engine has been putting down more consistent and better times than my "289bhp" engine did last year. And I can only think of one other "Phase 2- 280bhp" Nova that has ran what my car does down the 1/4mile. Despite having 50hp less than most of the other Phase 2 cars around.

My 2 pence worth.

Craig, we dont use tolurine any more, but the stabalizer/ additive we now use should stabalize the spec for upto 6 months!,
Obviously if the fuel is left in a car tank/open air for any period of time in heat the light ends will flash off (mainly the butane).

A guy round my way claimed he had a 350bhp (ATW) XE engined corsa.. I should point out this was on a standard throttle and management lol!

He's now got a C230 Kompressor and says its running 371 bhp and goes 171mph, no obvious engine modifications.

LOVE IT!
