please help, ignition barrel wont fit back in

yo, having a nightmare today, coming to put my ignition barrel back in

key is set to position 11, ive pushed in the locking tab, i put it back in the ignition barrel slot (sorry about the terminology) then it just slides in, doesnt lock or anything and the key is stuck at 2

only option is to pull back out and try again

please help :( got work at 8am

They are differant between mrk1's and mrk2's make sure you have the right one for your car.

Push the barrel in until it stops, then give it a good hard smack ;) then twist key as if to turn engine off & remove ;)

right down the ignition holster thing, u can see the steering lock in the bottom, i had to push my steering wheel back on get my finger down there and push it down to pop the lock fully off, its daft as steering lock WASNT on, but apparently it the pin didnt go fully down which was preventing the ignition barrel from fully fitting,

thanks for your help anyway, gona post some pics up, ended up outside till 11.30 with a 110v flood light
