View Full Version : Unlocking Networks on Nokia Phones
I bought a 2nd Hand Nokia 6630 to replace my 5yr old Nokia 6600 but as the replacement is an NI phone the sim from ROI is rejected. How do I unlock the phone?

Usually phone shops will do this for a small fee. I have just bought a Nokia N95 of eBay and will need this doing myself. Or i dont know if you get them, but in town centre there are market stalls selling phone covers, cases etc and they will do it for you. HTH.

I just rang vodafone on mine and they did it free because it was a 'contract expired' phone.
Some Nokia's are a bitch to do though and cost a fortune
Some have codes you can just tap in and it unlocks them
Ahhh, I might they them so mate. Cheers.

Dod I have same phone. It seems there isnt a way to unlock it third party so I'd get in contact with the network to see what they can do.

Just googled this. Might be of some use??
see here (http://www.unlocksearch.com/index.php?ad=adwords&gclid=CPnllMn105UCFQyD1Qod8mDRhw) :)
£2.99 BTW, there were some others. This was the first one.
Cheers lad. I'll see how I get on.
I tried all those online ones last week for my 6500 and no one could do it without sending it away and costing upwards of £50!
Note if you enter 3 incorrect codes it will lock the phone for life! EG useless!
(according to everyone i spoke to)
Im on 3 and to unlock the phone i needed to pay rest of exsisting contract which was £190 lmao
I'm sure on an N95 you can just flash the firmware up to the latest version (i.e. the latest available from Nokia, not what your operator lets you have, so you need to change the country code). Mine was an Orange boxed N95 from Phones 4 U, but I can use any network on it... and the first thing I did was the firmware lol
Same may apply to the 6630?
If the phone has come from somewhere like carphone warehouse or phones for you there not usually locked,
They keep a stock of phones and just place the relevant sim card with them when sold, whereas if you buy direct from network retailer its a "Vodafone nokia" so to speak.
I spoke to Carphone warehouse about it and she explained they cant afford the spac to stock 100 of each phones on each network so only do unlocked phones.
