Can the Carb'd tanks be converted? Isnt it just a case of cutting a hole on the top, fitting the In Tank Pump (Astra Mk3) and plumbing in a return?

You'll need a swirl pot in there too.

easier to get a replacement tank.

So you'd think but when you own most of the Tanks in the country parts are hard to find. lol

Swirl pot, as in the plastic Bason like thing the Pump and filter sits into?

The other alternative is low pressure-high flow pump feeding into an external swirl pot, with an external MPI pump after that, the return being plumbed into the swirl pot.

I paid £48 for a SPi tank, brand new.

Add Postage to NI (Krobinsons, and I'd probably need a few which I would consider taking advantage of his courtosy) or ROI (3 times that of NI's cost) and it'd cost me well over €120. I have about 4 Carb'd tanks so if there is any way possible, converting them it the plan.

it is very possible imo. the hardest bit is sealing it up again

The return needs to flow into the swirl pot in such a way as to draw more fuel in. Nigh on impossible without cutting the whole tank open. Cp installed a Nissan Sunny GTi pump and swirl pot arrangement as one piece which might be more appropriate and easier.

And costly as well. So the return fills the swirl pot, I reckon I could manage that. I've several Astra and Cavalier Donor tanks as well, so I'll give it a shot.

Cheers lads.
