It wasn't finished as my mate now has the engine. Bit like saying V8 in Nova done as someone (Phil?) started it

Yep, phil. Rover V8 RWD iirc.

How come it (the VXR engine'd Nova) was abandoned?

I think Chris Astley no longer had time to do it, with his business etc.

Probably not been tried by other people because a let is a easier option, with much more tuning options

surely having a much more reliable low mileage, smaller? engine wud be more satisfying tho..and a few remaps wudn't hurt! suppose it is more money tho

You could just turbo an X16XE, same end result and easier fitting

AuzzyB-Stop txt typing ;)

Yes its a newer engine, but a c20let is a much more tried and tested option

auzzy-b

True. but but vxr into nova will never BE tested if its never tried.! I think this could be be an up and coming project.

The wiring for the CamBus system is far to complicated for the average DIY mechanic, it would need a stand alone management to work

Exactly.

Theres two types of people who do engine conversions. Those who want to improve the performance of their car, and those who either want to do one thats not been done before, or want something different.

The problem is that the latter is normally more expensive, far trickier, and will probably end up with inferior results compared to a tried and tested, easier and cheaper option.

Moral of the story is, if you want 196 bhp, why spend time effort and money grafting a VXR engine into a nova when you can slot in a LET instead for the same result?

But if you want something different, go for it. Just dont do it for the wrong reasons :thumb:
