just cos you've posted over 2000 posts doesn't mean you've been on the site for years.

it is posiable that it is an n reg it might have been one of the few left

the reg goes on when it was registered

wisewood
18-10-02, 04:47 PM
yeah but tehre are very few L plate ones because they launched the Corsa in the place of the Nova (which was stupid) - so how could one make it through as an N plate, two years after the corsa was launched?

Vauxhall dealers simply wouldn't be able to get you one and sell it to you by the time it got to 1995/6.

check out novabug.co.uk and see if rich dale has anything about it from his vast collection of nova literature.

There you go that is where it came from. Its all bollocks there is no field full of novas in spain and even if there was they cud not sell them as they would not pass the strick new crash and emmisions laws. Rick

carltoncrazy
26-10-02, 05:45 PM
oh ok rick my oplogise,
but they r built,
and sorry rick ur rong they would pass EU standards,
because they have been produced and sold with the last 10 years,
all vauxhall would do is sell them and say"we lost them"or sumfing
the usal shitty vauxhall excuse,
come on chris ne replys?

Chris LR
26-10-02, 07:25 PM
Vauxhall left a msg on ansa phone, The guy apparently spoke to his collegues and doesn't know what I'm talking about, he's never heard the story and has never known Novas to be sold in Kit-form. He was pleased that I enjoyed the Vauxhall Nova and invited me to test drive a Corsa. (like they'd trust me after scratching one of their Vectras)

I've been thinking, whats in it for Vauxhall? Why have 10 year old cars competing directly against their new Corsa? It's not exactly the image they want!! Does anyone know where the story came from?

I think they probably donated them to Colleges etc, ours has been given a 90 BMW 5 series with 6000 miles and a 97 leccy 106, 98 Vectra and 99 Pug 206 LHD.

carltoncrazy
26-10-02, 07:49 PM

even if this field full of novas did exist i shud think they would be well fooked now 10 yrs without being run or n e thing?????? ummmm seizeage and if vaux are listening they can donate me a bloody corsa SRI sharpish. tight arses!...........ooooo they r gonna see me coming next time i go to the parts dept
"could you tell me the price of a nova GSI front bumper please without carriage bar please?"

"tight arses eh???? that will be ?500 ex vat sonny!!! and by vauxhalls terms and conditions you have entered a legally binding contract that requires you to buy the aforementioned product within 28 days......have a nice day sir"

Chris LR
26-10-02, 11:09 PM
Vauxhall only donate cars to make themselves look good, the college had to sign a document which means the car will never go on the road.

Isnt there a thing when rebuiding a car from other main components, the guidelines state that the age of the majority of the components of the car determine the overall age?
So if this Nova has the interior, engine, running gear and suspension, etc, from a N plate Corsa, you could then register it as a N reg Nova?

carltoncrazy
27-10-02, 12:50 AM
i know what ya getting at,its like kit cars,
hence why mines regesterd ku02
but no,its the chssis/VIN number they work on

Chris LR
27-10-02, 01:29 AM
I've had a quick look on the dvla

1. Vehicles using new/used parts get a Q plate.

2. If a car is radiaclly altered you get a Q plate.

3. If all parts are supplied new you can get a current plate.

I haven't had time to read it all to find out if it's any good so it's here

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/regrebil.htm

I'd still like to know where the story started, anyone?

carltoncrazy
27-10-02, 05:50 PM
hangf on kit car got 2 enignes 1 99 one 2000.
who spots the problem in chris post
"1. Vehicles using new/used parts get a Q plate"
note the word NEW
". If all parts are supplied new you can get a current plate"
ne 1 else spot the problem
soz chris ya rong,
i no gezza with a 1989 seriea gerab box axle engine in his kit car and thats got a new plate
BURN

Chris LR
27-10-02, 10:45 PM
You'd have to use the corsa platform to get an N plate

If all the nova parts were of the same age you'd get a plate with that age in mind, eg F plate

If you used lots of different parts that are different ages you'd get a Q plate, or so i understand.

Anyways, I've found an ad for a 1994 GM Nova 1.6

http://yahoo.carsales.com.au/pls/yacarsales/!ya_content.pv_vehicle_display

I thinks it's the closest well ever get

CP

According to the ads section in this months Total Vaux, someone is flogging a 93 L plate "one of only 2 in existence". If its true wouldn't that kinda rule out out true N platers?

wisewood
29-10-02, 12:47 PM
There must be some way we can find out what date the very last nova was registered.

MattyWoo
29-10-02, 02:13 PM
Isn't there some way you can contact vauxhall and ask them.

I've solved the problem, i got a call today from a very pleasant lady from Vauxhall, after i'd e-mailed askin about this.
She said the last Nova was indeed registered on an N plate there were 7 Novas on an N the last one was in the December.
