i doubt it - no point when fitting a LET is so much easier - tried and tested an all that

to big and wirery from what ive seen of them.

way to much time, cost and hassel for not big bhp to be worth while fitting one. so im gunna say no lol

I reckon it would be a ballache. And TBH why bother. The LET tried and tested and has 200ish cc's more ;).

And IIRC they are back to front, i.e the inlet is at the front. I think?!

there either 150 bhp or 180 bhp them engines a standard red top is 150bhp,
wouldnt say it was done before because it would be too much hassle, custom mounts, shafts, loom etc

In the world of Vauxhalls which have an ****nal of good engines to choose from that drop in on tried, tested & developed kits its just not cost effective.

However, the VAG lumps are modern, way more refined than the old engines we all use & are just as tuneable. Compared with Z20LETs they are far more reliable, potenytially more powerfull & a good alternative. They can't be that hard to wire in if they drop into mk1 Golfs easily enough. My mate is just finishing off his with a 20vT from a longitudinally mounted AUDI lump.

I for one actually think its a good idea in a Nova, but not necessarily recommending it.

You'd ideally want the whole car as everything is fly by wire IIRC so you would want sensors, instrument display etc etc.

As its quite often said, anything is possible if you have either enough money or brains [or quite often both]!

A few people on VAG forums are weighing up putting the 1.8T into Fabias but I haven't read a great deal into it.

Quite a popular converion in Lotus Elises now & I think someone has put one in a Renault 5 IIRC.

Not all are FBW
a few are cable throttle

You will need QPeng management
And a whole lot of other stuff

go for it dude

different

they come in, 150, 180, 225 bhp and a few more i thnk too

has any one stayed on subject lol.... the early 1.8t's are cable operated and the later's FBW. and a standard Audi S3 compared to a standard calibra, i know which one i would chose.... 225 reliable bhp out of a modern engine i think it would make for a excllent swap.

im not arguing how easy or why it should be done just wondering.

ow and i have everything needed o do the swap:thumb: inc 4x4 stystem

Would probably be easier to fit a 2.0t astra vxr engine!! If you want to go down the newer engine route!:thumb:

Reyland done theyre Rover 25 with the vag engine in and it was supposed to have been a bit of a pain to fit, custom making everything, from mounts, loom, hoses, driveshafts!

VXR engine would need a stand alone ECU to run it as the STD one will be flummoxed without the rest of the car.

Audi powere Elises tend to get Emerald put on them and mapped to 325bhp with an in car boost adjuster :D but inc engine its a £10K conversion :s

If you happen to have an S3, I'd keep it rather than butcher it for a Nova.

My dad's is ace, albeit a tad underpowered and has a little jittery understeer

The vag 1.8 20v T engine is a very good engine. 300+ on standard internals

Yup, it really is the limit, on standard internals.

Needs a turbo swap etc too to get to 300ish, ko3s/ko4?
But a very capable engine.

ko3s (180 lump) gives up about 245
ko4 (225 lump) around 300 tops but wont last tooo long

no sadly the s3 is not complete! Cat C, i got it to break up and sell the parts on. we all know what there capable of on standard internals with a upgraded turbo. There's a hundred and one types of cylinder heads that variy on differnt models. some have larger ports and are less restrictive.

I'd sooner have 300 20v bhp than a 300bhp LEH/vxr.

The new Vauxhall engines dont last.

Was it a black Clio with 1.2 badges on it? IF so I've got the feature when it was in PPC if you want a copy of it?
