View Full Version : my best ever bargain :)
last weekend i was strolling around my local scrappy as you do when i came across a cavvy sri, i thought rude not to have a look under the bonnet!! which is where i find a c20xe!! on closer inspection in turns out to be a coscast dispak xe :) so go and have a word with the scrap yard owner he says £70 for the engine, loom, ecu and f20 box which has equal length driveshafts :). bargain! so i say yes instantly obviously and he says he will remove it and i can pick it up whenever.
so today that is what i did :P

Might sound stupid, but where are the holes to mount the dispac bracket? They are in the side of the head.. and should be in that pic..? Mine are in that place..
Nice find tho.. scrappy by me cuts the engines out.. so the loom dies as so fuel lines shafts pipes...
Good find fella B@#tard lol.
must be an early costcast, as i've got a late one, as it's got the bracket's for the dispac on it...
Its a old dizzy coscast head then.
Hence why the dispak isn't fitted in the normal way, and is sitting horizontal instead of vertical.

£70 Wooooooohhhhhhhhhoooooooo
it is an early one that has been converted to coil pack ;) the homemade bracket bolt onto the back of the head.
i pulled the loom back through from the car so they didnt damage that. and i dont mind that they cut the outer shafts or rad pipes
Ah was gonna say, still a damn good buy. Is the proper mount, just moved about..
The scappy down the road hurts me with its engines...
Found 4xes in a huge engine pipe :(

Bargain mate, RESULT! QUALITY
A few years ago i baught 3 for £75! and £25 delivery home, none garaunteed runners and 1 of the looms were knackered but bargaintastic all the same. Sold one straight away to a mate for £50 and kept to for myself, which ended up on ebay

OH btw, thanks for the link to that website, ive just discovered my LET engine's head is coscast also, RESULT! With it being stamped GM i just thought it was a GM head, DOH!!
Good skills Luke :) I love it when things like that happen!
Its a old dizzy coscast head then.

Not a really early one with 13mm guides though as they don't have the GM stamp. It will have the 11mm guides same as what I have on the LET I have just bought.

Top find Burgo! Lucky bugger!
I had a similar experience but with a complete SRi Cavalier offered to me by 2 local Chavs for €500 (engines alone are worth €600)
I asked to view it and was taken into a forrestry down a network of roads to see a Cavalier, with 3 different wheels, a broken front window and no exhaust, broken from the manifold. They crossed the wires to start it as I took down the Vin and Number plate details without them knowing.
I said I'd think about it and asked them to call me that night. In the mean time I contacted a "Mate" of mine who filled me in with the details of the car. It was impounded after being reported several times, was stolen (yes) from the Impound Compound behind the Cop Shop and was due to be crushed. There was no problem in me buying and stripping the car providing i issued the Gardai with a Certificate of Distruction from an approved Recycler.
So I got a call later, I told them exactly what was what and told them, i'd give them €200 for it, take it or leave it, and I wanted it delivered to my door. They agrees, and I sold the engine the next day for €600. stripped and scrapped the shell and sold on most of the rest of the parts. The car has made me over €1000 in parts now. lol
TBH I'd be selling the Coscat head for a few hundred and buying a GM porus one fixing that and you've got an XE that's actually paid you money!
