hey everybody, just brought me a new car( vectra b dti,) and havnt got the locking wheel key, just wandered if anybody that owned/owns a vec has one i can buy or lend to remove them.

before anybody asks i have tried the following on one of the bolts:

-been to vaux and they dont stock this type of wheel key only the newer, most popular keys.
-tried welding a nut onto the bolt, but it wont hold a weld onto it.
-air chisel but its too deep to get anywhere with
-and breaking off the colar and smashing a 16m impact socket onto it.

here are a few pics of the bolt, sorry for the bad images but having the flash on only made the picture un-viewable so had to try hold a torch up to it while holding phone.:)

Where did you bring it from?

A friend of mine had a similar problem. An independant tyre fitter place sorted it for him for about £15.

i havnt tried any locking bolt tools such as the gator grip, but i have been on vvoc and found a thread from someone elses mishap with locking bolts.tsome one said they wernt any good.

i have posted a thread on there and a chap has pointed out that i need a key wth the letter D on it,just like the bolt.so all i can do is go back to vaux and see if they can get that key.

thanks for the replys.

Ive heard they mash up them pins, you can get a set where you screw them onto the nut and it removes them, sortof the same principal as an easy-out

same as what was on my missus 1.4SR. The key ended up fubarred. I used a 19mm socket smacked over the top. Worked a treat!

all well & good, but drilling the pilot hole to get the stud extractor in is going to be hard due to the hardening process on the bolt
