can anyone tell me how i can tell if my F13 is CR or WR please

Hi mate, it will be stamped on the end of the casing, you'll normally have to give it a good clean/wire brush to find it.

Two ways:

One is to clean the end of the gearbox and look for some very faintly stamped letters.

The second is to observe your speeds in 4th gear. Can you hit the rev limit/maximum revs in fourth gear and keep accelerating when going into 5th (CR) or do you struggle to hit the rev limit in 4th and not really accelerate much at all in 5th (wr). Generalisation assuming you aint got 200bhp!

i was flat out in 5th doing 120
and it didnt want to go past that

if it is a gte, then it should be a cr. the cr does approx 20mph per 1000rpm in top, so at 60 it is doing 3000rpm.

MC i tried what you said i hit just over 110 in 4th and bottled it are any of these figures right and i aint got a rev counter

unless you've got a rev counter, this method of checking is useless. get underneath & look

dont know the the box came with the engine was in there when i got the car

99% it will be a CR. WR box's are ****e, anyone with any sense wouldnt put one on a 1600 engine unless it was a standard SPi motor.

That's where you need to look, only have to turn the wheels to the left to see it, and give the end of the 'box a good clean. If the box is out of a GTE it should say CR 3.74.
