I've just got my license back after being banned for the same thing for 18 months.

Cheapest quote i've managed to get on my 1992 nova 1.2 merit, with 14SRi engine, lowered, alloys, exhaust, is £1526.

[EDIT] 20 years old too.

I would guess at around £2500. When I got banned I was driving a 416 rover gsi and to get reinsured was £1200 tpft 10 years ago.
I only have 1 year left and my DD ban can come off my licence after 11 years of hurt. (The stupidity of when I was young and YES I regret it)

any previous accidents/convictions ?

if not you should be able to get it for 1k depending on your readings (which being only a years ban wont be that high)

it may be there for 11 years but your not requierd to tell your insurance company after 5

It varies, some insurance companies ask you to disclose ANY convictions you've had, regardless of date. Most say "within 5 years, unless the code is DR or CD in which case 11".

I've even seen one insurer that said "have you ever had any points present on your license in the last 5 years?" - when queried, they said even if the points expired 8.5 years ago, you'd still have to declare them as 5 years ago you had some points on your license! I have a feeling that was CIS though, so the guy was probably talking complete toss.

the more no claims you got the better im thinking £1800 - £2200

Not enough information to provide an accurate quote tbh.

Assuming grade A postcode, 5 years NCB (being 23), sole car @ 12k a year... without the ban I would have expected to pay around £700-800pa, so with the ban I'd say thats going to be around £1300-1500.

If the postcode is bad, or you're on less NCB then expect that to go up.
