came across a big problem on my 1600 nova engine when i was checking it for a oil leak:

it has the incorrect crank pulley fitted, a round tooth with a square tooth belt and vernier. The waterpump is a round tooth item aswell. Rather than the costly option of a new vernier i was wondering if any other small block 8 valve engine has the square tooth setup? i have been to the scrap yard today and found 3 8 valve engines around a '91-'94 model year to have the round setup

The only square tooth pulley i found was on a tigra 16 valve engine. The pulley i removed tuned out to be broken:mad: ( woodruff casting ripped off )

This pulley has 23 teeth where as the round one has 19 teeth.

Just need to know what engines and model 8 vauxhalls had the square setup? from there i can figure out what cars to look at.

i'm loosing the will, this is prity much all thats needed to finish my car now aswell:mad:

please advise me guys

cheers

now thinking the best idea is a new vernier as then i'm leaving the other pullies as vaux intended

Are all small block verniers the same? they all seem to have 38 teeth, is it just a matter of matching up square or round tooth?

Yes, its the tooth shape that differ.

AW06-The 1200 carb block i had, had square tooth setup.
All my later 8V's have had the round tooth setup.

If the crank sprocket and waterpump is roundtooth, id just get a round tooth vernier to match, and cambelt.
