lol @ est 200bhp

Anyway, see my WiP for all things 8v Turbo :D given its spec, all things taken into consideration it should make 180 to 185 bhp given suffice fuelling & adeqaute inlet charge temp. Apparently anyway.

If it made 175bhp with a shattered piston.. im sure it would be higher with new ones, and all other new parts. When i get it rolling roaded ill put a pic of print out on here, and if it doesnt make the 200bhp mark, its getting parts to make it 200bhp :thumb: .

Mike
02-09-08, 05:22 PM
It made 175bhp on Hi Tec's rolling road a little over 12 months ago without a knackered piston chap ;) it was a fresh built engine when Chris charged it ;)

And haha, i meant it would clearly add bhp on, if one piston was shattered, as it looses compression. But thnx to mike's info i now know the piston wasnt knackered :thumb:

while were talking engines, and save the hassle of starting a new thread, could someone possibly give me a rough price on how much to have the top end rebuilt, valves, spings, etc and possibly a new cam(if its pooible to buy a new standard cam for it) in there too???

i paid 800 - parts+labour. included new gaskets all over, new pistons etc, skimmed head etc. Depends on the amount of parts/labour, but if you do all engine work yourself.. shouldnt be too bad on the wallet. :)

very nice engine mate :)

I had my head re-built for £88 at 'Ash price' that was labour plus stem seals. The cam you can change yourself whilst the head is off, its only two bolts at one end :) You can still buy a standard cam, probably from Vauxhall at £££ or ebay copies are always avaliable, but why not get a Kent or Piper cam, theres not alot in it on the lower profiles but it's good quality stuff and will give you a little extra kick ;)

EDIT: Just thought, if you look up Autosprint they could sort you out with a rebuilt modified head, prices start at £325 and they do cams.

(I sound like a right advert! lol)

Hmm 2l conversions get pricey after all the shafts/welding/strengening, Then theres uprated brakes etc :thumb:

Ah! but thats mates rates. I thought 80 notes wasn't bad, when it came back it was ready to bolt on and saved me loads of hassle. Couldn't of been much less as the parts you've list tot up to almost the same :p

EDIT: Check me valves! lol
