My bottom end on my GTE has recently started to knock, but ive bought a GSi engine and was wondering if i needed a GSi loom to run the engine? Or can i swap any thing on the engine to run it on the GTE loom? Any help appreciated!

Cheers, Kerr

As far as i know, as long as its not a later GSi block, its all the same.

There are differences mechanically between the 1600's. You should find if you use the original loom, sensors & AFM/ECU together it will run fine.

Main differences to note are cambelt tensioner & belt cover setups.
Electrically the later GSi (E16SE) has a Siemens ECU as opposed to earlier BOSCH.

Could you tell me weather or not the engine above will be alrite to run on my original loom?

Thats a C16SE. The very late, catted GSi engine.

You will need to fit the inlet & TB from the older engine. Use the loom, ECU & all sensors, so basically use the new, ebay engine as a mechanical donor for block, head & cam.
