Saxo is quite a bit more powerful, but heavier iirc

Nova GSI about 100 brake.....VTS has about 125?

like for like a std vts will blitz a nova std nova gsi,
although a gsi will have the edge over a vtr

Ive owned a standard nova gsi and a standard saxo vtr at the same time although i did prefer my nova, which i still have 8 years on, the saxo i have to say would beat it performance wise not a lot of difference in power maybe the saxo had the edge but it handled a lot better than the nova, which makes it a quicker car point to point, that was a 99 saxo so had the 100 bhp engine, the older ones were only 90bhp,
not so sure on a saxo being heavier than a nova gsi though dont feel it when your in one theres nothing there of them even the glass is wafer thin.

So people say they're faster.

Does anyone have the Actual real specs of the GSI ?

i know that the Sport is

0-60 8.9 secs

top speed 112 mph

and its 93 Horsepower

and ive just heard the GSI is faster but i still dont see any specs just the rumor that its 98 hp

Not thought of looking on parkers?

Standard stats for nearly all cars are one there.

Think 0-60 is 9.8.

a vts is defenatelt faster than a gsi its 20bhp up on one and personally i think a vtr is as well but its close, but id rather own a nova,
how about gte's cos every one ive owned has felt quicker than the gsi's ive had

Adam
30-08-08, 02:18 PM
A vtr is only 90bhp, would be about on par with a nova sr/sri imo

a gsi should easily leave a VTR but a VTS should easily leave a gsi

DAN-F
30-08-08, 02:23 PM
the first vtr's are 90bhp the later ones are 100bhp, i had one the same time as a nova gsi and mine was quicker, only slightly barely noticeable but it was quicker

late vtrs

98bhp 100lbft 0-60 9.4 top speed 120mph and 920 kgs in weight so not a lot in it but giving that the saxos are a newwer engine theyre gonna feel quicker, not that id ever buy another one it practically fell apart around me

The VTS outhandle a nova hands down, better acceleration and top end, more comfortable and the steering wheel is in the right place,

My mrs has got one, its a great car and tbh cant be compared in standard guise to the standard gsi, as said the vtr is a closer match, they are very close matched and will only come down to the driver, but the fact they have pas and more comfort than the GSi if there equal its better.

GSI:
100bhp
0-60 9 secs
Top Speed 117mph

VTR:
100bhp
0-60 9.1secs
Top Speed 119mph

VTS:
125bhp
0-60 7.5secs
Top Speed 132mph

The VTS would spank a GSi, no questions about it.

A VTR would spank a SR. SRi would be closer, and a GSi up against a VTR would be neck and neck.

Bear in mind Saxo's are a lot newer, so probably much less wear on the engine. The Saxo's handle very well, basically a VTS is actually a very good car, well for a hot hatch anyway!

A few of my mates have/had well specced and stripped vts/s2 rallyes etc and I agree, they are like go karts and definitely not a heavy car.
Would be interesting to see a vtr against a gsi but both would have to be equal, no mods and no wear. When will you see that? lol

bah just it a proper suspension kit and take t on the twistys lolok now you got me involved,i can actualy awnser the question in reality not in fugures as a few of my mates have both the VTR and the VTS saxo's,and i have a NOVA GTE (with little miles!a k/n and exhaust)i can race barry in his VTR on the link way from stood and rolling,i just about get the better of him:) ,but when i race ste's VTS,im affraid i have no comparison to his car as im left behind everytime:(,i know roughly the power figures, but this statement was a reality check, and sure many will agree.:thumb:

sorry i have to get in on this... i have a 1.0 Nova Gem (jus till i find a 1.4) and that is able to reach 100mph and is quite quick and is able to beat the 1.1 saxo, so yeah i'll answer that 1 for ya, Nova is better :) LOL

There should be a list of specs for every nova. iv'e searched everywhere for answers and this was the last resort.

There is, its printed in the back of Total Vauxhall every month:thumb:

And tbh specs on paper mean funk all bud, ive had a mk2 1.4 SR it had nearly been round the clock twice but still went like a train, had a K&N and a full powerflow system, and ive out accelerated a mates old mk1 saxo VTR, i had four passengers (including me) to his two (him and his mate) we were both at 20mph on a dual carriageway out of town both hit 2nd gear and floored it, he ended up behind me untill i slowed at around 80mph (on the clock so probs about 70 lol) so on paper his car was faster, on the road mine was so tbh written specs dont really mean sh!t!

I would buy total vauxhall if it was nova's only :thumb:

i just want to say one thing. i had a 1.4 sr k&n and back box that was it and i pulled away from every vtr i raced. and i kept up with vts in 1st. the vts is only good over 4500 rpm as its 16v. if u have a erly gsi and set it up rite there qwick little cars for a 1.6 8v. well when your sitting at the lights in your nova gsi with a saxo vts next to you just remember that drive shafts and gearbox will ready with you, as for the saxo they would have allready snaped a shaft, got a wining diff, lost 1st, 3rd and 5th gear or there waiting to be picked up by the aa. the french never falt of the running gear lol. anyway now ive said my bit this is a nova websit. so novas only!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there seems to be quite a bit of people getting fed up of threads on the forum. saying how things get repeated etc. no offence to anyone, i'm not telling you to suck eggs. but why don't you just ignore any threads which have a title like "which is faster" etc. bottom line is forum is for discussion. theres no obligation to read or reply to threads! :)
