its very hit and miss - current market insurance is all over the place with the credit crucn.
main factors are age, ncd, car, mods (if any), additional drivers, postcode, overnight location, excesses, previous history (claims, convictions) and even your occupation.

So whats cheap for one person in one part of the country could be expensive for another...

if it's standard use moneysupermarket.com - they give a discount and most of the companies they flag up if you go into them for a quite will also ive you a further discount - can be as much as 25%...
