If I buy road tax tomorrow will I waste a month (August) or will it start from September?

If you do it tomorrow, it will run til 31/07/09 (or 31/01/09 if you do 6 months). So ye, you'll effectively have lost a month.

You can buy it to start from the first of sept if youre car is already taxed but if its not then you will have to back date it and lose the current month.
Just depends if youre already taxed or not??

Oops, yeah. Well 31/01/09. If you have a SORN declaration on the car, you can apply for tax from the first day of the month in which you want to tax it. However, you can apply for tax two days in advance, which is why people tend to tax their cars on the last day of the month.

Sooo for example, my Nova I taxed on June 5th for 6 months, and it expires on 30th November (effectively, I "lost" the first 4 days of June). If I taxed it on June 29th/30th, it would have run until December 31st.

I taxed mine yesterday, I just told them that its already txed until the end of the month an they gave me one to start on the 1st of september

But, if your cars not already taxed though it will technically (in the eyes of the law) still not be taxed untill the first of september as your tax disc isnt in date yet and would also show up as untaxed on an ANPR camera if spotted.

But if it was previously taxed anyways ignore my the above post lol

Well yes if you plan on driving it then its not a good idea, im going away for a few weeks tomorrow so I needed to tax mine before I left.

It is SORNed at the moment. Just that Monday is inconvenient for me, I would have preferred to do it before the weekend. Going to wait 'til Monday now :(

He he he, due to our crappy tax system, I can drive without any, and if stopped byu the cops, produce an absolute bollox excuse and drive away.
