hi all
i understand you cannot fit 16v rakes and run sr alloys
my question is what way can i get round this?
i WILL be buying alloys soon, but whilst doing any engine work, my brakes are being uprated, and wondered how i can get about for cheap.
so what naff vauxhall alloys could i buy, or good ones for long term :D
even steel wheels

Astra GTE rims will defo fit obviously
i think most other wheels from cars running the same caliper setup would fit - ie Cav GSI
u might even find 14" steels from a cav/astra would fit
im running on astra gte rims at present but they aint very nice
im on the look for a set of 6 spoke cav sri rims as they are quite smart and should be cheap

standard steel wheels from a SRi will fit over the brakes
get corsa gsi brakes
256mm*20mm discs
very much the same as cav brakes but discs a little thinner and as they fit behind corsa alloys ;)
I have 15" Softstars at the moment and have just bought 288mm discs and Vectra V6 calipers, they just fit! Though I've got to rebalance the wheels with the weights moved over
Apparently you can get the 16v calipers to fit under standard sr wheels although i havn't tried myself. It depends on how much of the brake pad is left i believe, probably worth just picking up a couple of 16v wheels/alloys for a tenner or something each from a scrappy.
with the right calipers you can get 280mm discs under 13" rims
