View Full Version : dump valve problem

As above, i was powering out of a bend. when the boost came in, it blew the pipe off the bottom of the turbo. I fixed it, but ever since the dump valve wont make a noise, its like a blow instead of a whistle.

i got told about something inside the dump valve can break if turbo pipe 'pops' off. So is there any way of fixing/ making it whistle again? or is the solution simply a new one?

any help would be much appreciated. :thumb:

it is boost back up to what it was before? If not then there is your problem.

Hmm the gauge says 12psi. But Chris who sold it to me said it was set at 14 psi, however i cant remember ever seeing the gauge that high. Is it possible it could have changed the psi slightly when the pipe flew off?

is your dump valve still on the vacuum side?

ummm shouldnt a DV be on the turbo -> TB side..... rather than the vaccum side

It should be connect to vacuum yes with a vacuum line, as thats what opens it to vent pressure....
But aye, the body of it should sit before the tb

Hmm, strange problem if your still getting the same boost. Was going suggest the dv had stuck open/shut or something...

the d.v is attached to where the air gets forced into the engine. It used to work, its a double piston one.

its not stuck, because it lets off a noise still, just alot quieter. :(

Has the trumpet fallen off? I was under the impression trumpets make the whistle - my forge just blows (lol) and that has no trumpet, whilst my friend's Blitz jobbie whistles quite loudly and that has a trumpet.

DV shouldn't break, its only a diaphragm with a spring. Not a lot to go wrong, although its possible the spring and/or diaphragm could have worn. That should make it whistle on high boost though...

Aww come on.. That's hardly bad, not like wuu2 m8 4ne mi fne crap lol. So .. back to the question, would i get the whistle back with a new d.v?

Probably, although a dump is a dump (lol). IME bailey and Blitz tend to be quite whilstly. IIRC bailey do one that is quite loud in terms of whistle.

yes you are correct, but the 'signal' tube should be on the vacuum side so the D.P on the piston causes it to lift as the throttle closes/vac increases ;)
