Apologies for "noob" questions but:-

I've done a few searhes (I would post the link, but apparently I haven't enough posts to do this) and this thread died without really giving a definitive answer:

I've already picked up a ported head so I was looking to put in a camshaft to make full use of the extra flow.

I have a C16SE engine from a 93 Astra GLi, its MPi distributorless engine.
So can some body confirm the following.

1. Obviously I can fit a camshaft and time it in using a vernier pulley, but is there an issue with ignition advance/retarding which cant be corrected because of the standard ECU?

2. I've been offered a cam from a GTE - will the ends be compatable at the coilpack side?

3. Is a standard GTE/GSi camshaft any good compared to a standard GLi effort?

4. Any other advice?

If I do go for an aftermarket higher lift camshaft, are there any problems with the ignition advance?
