steering wheel removal without special tool

after what seemed a lengthy battle with the angle grinder and big grips, managed to get the steering column out, but im stuck again lol. i cant seperate the wheel from the column, i tried resting the wheel sides ontop of 2 wheelie bins with the column hanging inbetween, with some medium ave-it clouts to the column from inside centre of the wheel, no luck, didnt wanna go mental as i hear u can break the column doing this, or will it be cool to go berserk ?

if its a big no-no, whats the next best thing ?
cant afford food so dont tell me to go out and buy a tool, i could try and make one tho if someone explain how :thumb:

if the nut and washer are off it will go but on two wheelie bin they will be absorbing the hit. Its tappered at the end so its easier fitting it back in the car and pushing the bottom of the wheel up with your knees and pull the top rocking it and watch your face as ive headbutted a few wheels in the past lol

Why did you leave it on the column? Just bray the wheel and it will eventually just pop off the spline

i like the sound of the scientific approach of heat expansion, plus a bit of neanderthal for good measure.

ones i couldent get it off my nova. so what i did is got some tow rope put it on the steering wheel then put it on my other nova then put it in gear and started pulling away . walk to the nova and then it just fell off took some doing tho lol

i got a mash hammer on a poverty wheel and leathered it holding the column in my hand and it came of. if it breaks i ll eat an air filter.

put the nut back and just keep it loose. just enough to stop the wheel from banging youre face.

1 mate sitting in the car pulling on the wheel, and you put a metal pipe (or something) on the nut and hit it a few times with a hamer while youre mate is pulling.
