A British carmaker has built a storming new 200mph+ supercar which can return nearly 70mpg – the new Trident Iceni.

The Trident Iceni is a new supercar which uses a 6.6-litre V8 turbodiesel engine which produces 550bhp and a massive 950lb/ft of pulling power – more than twice the pull of a 7-litre Corvette Z06.

This means the Trident Iceni can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds – as quick as a Ferrari F40 – and hit a top speed of more than 200mph.

The Trident Iceni achieves this remarkable power and mpg figure thanks to what the company calls “torque multiplication”.

Trident says this technology is “available now, requires no further research and development and can make an immediate difference to the amount of emissions diesel vehicles produce”.

The Trident Iceni was tested at the Millbrook Proving Ground and at a constant speed of 70mph the team recorded an average mpg figure of 68.9.

And Trident recorded an astonishing 108mpg when testing at 30mph city driving, claiming the new Iceni can travel 2,000 miles on a single tank of diesel before refuelling.

The chassis is made from stainless steel and is guaranteed against corrosion for 100 years – meaning this supercar will never rust.

The new Trident Iceni is nearly production ready, and prices will start from £75,000 when it goes on sale.

Looks out or proportion and the interior is cheap, designed to be L/RHD easily.
No-one can deny the figures though! Very impressive in that area.

i can see what you mean by easy to change to lhd, but if thats all leather dash then its a fair amount of work either way and the quilted seats always do it for me

Aye a leather dash is nice, but cheapo steering wheel, out of place cnetre console, cheap gear knob etc let it down. Doesn't look classy to me, but nice if it's a home brew job.

I'm quite a big diesel fan, doesn't mean they sound any good in a fast car lol

No diesel sounds good, they all sound the same.

Not great looking but I think I could overlook that based on those figures

Not saying they sound good. the one going in the Audi R8 almost defeats the purpose of the car, I just mean a lot of common rails sound OK in comparison to the old GM/isuzu/Ford Endura lumps etc.
My parents have a 2005 2.7tdi terrano and it sounds like a tank, my mam thought as it was new when they got it it would sound modern lol

Well, no its not a super car.

Diesel...£75,000...Diesel

your going to see more of these than a Z4 (Which its clearly based on and a TVR inside)

Never will be a super-car to me and I couldn't care about 200+, yes well done to them, but still no

I dunno... we can get a 2.4 tranny to sound almost normal. esp compared to some modern petrol powered cars.... they are rattley as funk due to stupid injectors etc.

I'd consider that if it can cope with 20K per year and the depreciation isnt toooo heavy.

All these derv/electric fast cars coming out are making me think about it for my daily drive. Makes 40 mpg from the VX seem crap lol.

I can guarantee you that a john deere 6920s with its 4" vertical exhaust, & a scania 143 v8 with a cab stack sound flipping gorgeous, there is grunt with a massive hint of menace.... cars sound soft.
