does any one on here have any experience with karting?

reason i ask is im looking to buy a cheapish kart for a bit of fun, i dont live far from llandow and i am going to use it there,
me and a mate go there a bit and hes yet to beat me lol despite being 3 stone lighter, we get quite competetive over it but hes gone and bought a kart its a 110cc but its quick, dont know the make of it though,

i need something quick but not too expensive, was thinkin of buying a chassis and putting the cr125 moto-x engine that ive got into it into it

any help would be greatly appreciated

best thing in my experience for cheap reliable fun is what they call a pro kart. its just a normal kart but has two of the honda gx160 engines. they are plenty quick enough and the engines go forever so you wont go far wrong with them.

depends what you call expensive. this one isn't

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/pro-kart-2-GX-160-engines_W0QQitemZ260275464227QQcmdZViewItem?hash=i tem260275464227&_trkparms=72%3A1121%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

fair enough it needs a few bits but they are only cheap aswell

pro karts ususally go for about anywhere between 500-1000. so not to cheap
if you look hard enough you can pick up a decent gx160 go kart or similar for around 200 pound.

110cc are for kids!!

I regulary go and use 240cc twin engines machines ;) go for a Rotax cart, mega bucks but very good qaulity

ive got a tony kart with a 100cc 2 stroke clutched engine fast and i built it for £550.

honda's are really slugish .
Rotax's are really fast but are expensive
100cc direct drive or clutched are fast and cheap second had

soory but im no fan of pro kart's i prefer to go fast.

Yea but you would say that as you own one lol

IMO the Honda Karts arent sluggish at all, the twin engined karts possibly, however the two engines need to run in sync, hence the minor delay in "go" ness.

600 bike engine ftw, although an old mate built an r1 engined one lol

If you want something cheap to maintain go for the twin engined pro kart, not as quick off the line as a 2 stroke but once you're going plenty quick enough. Well set up will do 85 all day long and reliable as you like. They don't use the engines in industrial generators for nothing!

If you want manic noise, a lot more work, and rebuilds and new plugs every time you get the mix a bit wrong, get a 2 stroke (ok so i'm exaggerating a little but they're not exactly honda 4 reliable)

seriously, though, look at a gtm rossa, it has tons of room in the back, a v6 would fit easily

Only problem with pro karts is that they require consistent engine rebuilds due to the silly power/revs they make.

3 years ago on a drunken hangover Sunday 5 of went go karting. My mate got a brand new Kart I was after and i decided to take revenge and rammed him off the track breaking off his side pod. He retaliated by ramming me into a bunch of tyres so hard that the Kart caught fire, so I jumed off, ran inside and got another to get him again!!
