I have lowered my nova sr on standard wheels and shocks by 60mm, thing is the new springs are loose on the shock, so if the car is jacked up the surspenstion drops and the springs fall away on the shock..this isnt right... how do I fix this?
I also think I have lost the bumper stop.. is this a problem?

the shocks are too long uprated ones are shorter.

std shocks?
Well you can cable tie the rear springs or something so that they don't fall out.
Unfortunately you can't do much for the fronts. I had some old Gmax ones like this, promptly got rid of them.
My advice is to flog them on for £40 quid and get some 40mm springs! Or else buy some shortened shocks for the 60's, but it will still be a harsh ride.

i had spax 60mm springs with matched shocks and its very bumpy but handled well but i got used to the ride.

Sorry i may have mis lead everyone, ive only changed the front springs so far, and these are the springs which are falling out from the strut... from what I have read I get the impresstion I need to get shorter struts to accomodate the new 60mm springs. what about the rear? can i fit new springs using the original dampers?.
cheers
Ideally, yes!
Chances are, they would be fine, but thats only chances. Go over a hump on a back road fast enough and a rear spring could fall out, its possible.
Buy some shorter shocks or get different springs. It would handle MILES better with short shocks.
Also, the car won't/shouldn't pass MOT with those 60s on std shocks.
Good luck dude:thumb: .
Edit - I was refering to you're other post.... the rears are likely to be too short aswell if the front are too short. Shortened shocks are the best and safest bet. Or of course different springs.

thanks Leeboo, I will have to hunt out some new shocks and struts, I would like to keep the 60mm but I may change to 40mm as people have said theses are better.
Last time I listen to the bloke in the shop when he said "yeah they are ok with standard shocks and struts".

go back and tell him hes a :gay:
Well I had 60mm spax springs with standard shocks for a few weeks and they were tight on the shocks, just depends on the springs!!
But yes 4mm is usually better!
theres nothing wrong with the spring being loose in the shock imo. ive got coil overs which are ubber short compared to standard shocks and when i jack mine up there is about 2 inch's of space between the shock and spring
ya i am runing 50mm lowering springs on me sri and i need some gmax shocks it hits the bumpstops all the time it ****s me off lol

So you can buy what I would call a spacer for the front struts to take up the space between the spring and the top of the strut?

that would do away with the lowering effect of the springs, & thus would not be much use.......

ok... so its better to just get short front struts? what about the rear? can I just put the new lower springs on while still using the original shocks
