The best advice I can give is to get all of the work done as soon as its assigned, and get a part time job with reasonable hours ie weekends, so you can do college work during the week.

college is only pointless if you dont put in full effort and have a job in line that requires the qualification

Suppose your right I only went to college for few months, had to leave and get a job though to get my own place...

belly257
21-08-08, 01:19 AM
yer college is no good if you got bills etc to pay, but this guys living at home so he should be ok for abit, and when he finishes college he shoul have better qualifications to get a good job:thumb:

large_steve182
21-08-08, 01:26 AM
any more qualtifications to put down will help get a job, even if its not relevant to the job being applied for.

large_steve182
21-08-08, 01:59 AM

although when i was 2nd year. (dont know what it is in years in england)
we got a girl down from uni on a p.e placement. now she was hot. then there was your typical rumors she was a lesbian etc lol

sending the new kids the wrong way

What course you doing mate? i went last year to finish my panel beating and auto refinishing course off and ended up starting a welding course, never finished the welding because i had knee surgery so im going back in september,
our tutor was constantly offering us work mostly the second year, because apparently welding jobs are well paid even if you only have the first year qualification,

my advice would be don`t go to college it's not worth it. Just get a job :thumb:

That's what i did. And then in order to get myself a decent career with good prospects at the age of 25 i started a 3 year course which means studying at college 2 nights a week for 3 years.

If i went to college in the first place i would have been able to earn the money i can earn now from the age of about 19. Meaning I am thousands of pounds worse off.

If someone wants to go to college to better their prospects, why would you suggest that they dont bother? This is just a f*cking ridiculous thing to say.

It's worth it if you know what you want to study and what you want to do with the qualifications. That's a silly thing to say.
What I don't understand though is people that go to university when they have no idea what they want to do in life, then they leave and start the same job they would have started anyway, just with a massive debt.

Amen. Id totally agree with that - dont just go to college for something to do - but if its a means to an end then its well worth it. Ditto uni.

As regards the work, as long as you turn up (and work) when ur supposed to you shouldnt have any problems - or do what I did - skive a lot and struggle!

College/Further education is not pointless in the slightest, it depends where you want to go in life.

I did A levels and then went to uni. I ended up not finishing my course & went out to get a job. Now at the age of 26 I am having to go back to college to finish what I started to further my career!! I should have just done it in the first place...

Be aware that the job market in IT is saturated and you'll have to be really good and go the extra mile to get anywhere.

I'm strongly considering changing from IT to a different industry.
