Engine Bottom End

So my 1.4sr is burning oil. Crap!
Its not the valve stem seals cos i replaced them.ive been told its the piston rings. The bottom end has 99000 miles on the clock so instead of fidlin about i'm gonna get a knew one.
I was told to get a short engine cos somethin abou tthe compression makes it quicker.
What is this?
I'm kinda assumin its the bottom end of a multipoint injection engine.
Haynes manual reckons ratio 10:1 for multi
and 9.4:1 for me standard one.

My mate has a 1.3 SR with a 1.6 bottom end from a Nova Gte, so i cant see u having n e problems with it, plus u should c some bhp increase aswell

Buy a full engine and just swap the full lump (get a good one from a newish crashed car), this will be much easier (and cheaper) than messing about with changing heads etc..How much oil does it burn?

Anyone know a good place to get a 1.4sr engine in good condition. I'm lookin 4 1 myself.
