View Full Version : Ridiculous quote off HIC

Just had a totally stupid insurance quote off HIC on the Nova turbo. Bearing in mind Flux have quoted me £600 fully comp (7 years NCB, clean license, car garaged, 26 years old), best HIC can manage is £1500+.

Find it really difficult to understand how there can be such a difference, especially now they are part of the same company?

Any other suggestions on who else will do agreed value policies?

TBH i would probably get another quote from them and see if they just didnt make a huge mistake. My reasoning for this is the fact they have always come up trumps for me over the years. Just yesterday i insured the baby 1.2 so i could drive it to billing and they lightened my wallet but about £100 which was alot better than other insurers i tried.

You could of just got an idiot on the other end of the phone like kev did at flux the other week. They wouldnt even insure him on his valver lol lol lol.

Yes they are sister company's, but when it comes to quotes they are still a mile apart :thumb:

It is stupid how you go on a search thing and they offer me between £450 and £1800 just for a 1.2 nova!

I'm with lloyds tsb bank, believe it or not they were the cheapest!

for a laugh i got a quote for a lambo gallardo 5.0L fully comp with my 8 years ncb and 26 was £1680 with a £750 excess. For once i can afford the insurance and but not the car.

They've always been good to me too. I was insured by HIC when I had my turbo Nova (and I was only 22!) I've had quite a few crappy runabouts and they've always managed to insure them for between £150 and £250, so I can't fault them in that respect.

I'm with Dan, phone up again and speak to someone else.

This is true. I couldn't believe it:
Him: "we cannot insure a 28 year old on a 2.0 16v Nova"
Me: "What? ermmm?! So your not interested in the mods I've done then?"
Him: "you'll never get insurance on it"
Me: "is this converstion being recorded? I want a copy"

HIC gave me an awesome deal, very happy with it.

I wasn't going to argue with the man, I just wanted insurance! If they don't want my money then I'll go somewhere else, HIC were cheap enough so I've no complaints

Agreed value on my 1.6 T40 was £650. No no-claims, 22 years old. As said keep ringing till you get a quote you like ;)

Also try Sky, they've always undercut HIC and Flux for me.

Does very though, different people always get different quotes, so whats good for one may be expensive for another.

Sky don't do agreed value apparently, Lancaster don't do modified cars.

Flux have quoted me £639 fully comp with £8k agreed value.

Think im going to try to get hold of someone at HIC and sort out some form of club discount. it will be my 4th attempt though lol.

As much as I and a few have had good experience with Flux, it seems that they just arn't cutting it for most of us.
